CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Disconnect the main power supply line for your existing protein skimmer pump and pull the entire filtration unit completely out of the sump basin.
- Carefully unscrew or slide the old pump block away from the skimmer’s internal structural intake plumbing adapter tree.
- Remove the clear venturi air adapter snout from your old pump intake side and push it firmly into the specialized intake socket on the new AQ-2000S cover.
- Verify your factory 25mm threaded outlet adapter contains its rubber sealing o-ring, then screw the adapter clockwise onto the large grey threaded pump snout until it is hand-tight.
- Securely press the completed pump assembly back onto the skimmer body line, slide the flexible air muffling tube over the venturi, and lower the skimmer back into position.
- Plug the standard three-prong power connector into a GFCI-protected outlet frame and monitor the air line to confirm a rich bubble line starts forming immediately.
Pro Tips:
- Do Not Overtighten the Volute Snout. When mating your 25mm output adapter ring onto the grey male threads of the AQ-2000S volute cover, wrap the connection hand-tight only. Never use pliers or heavy plumbing wrenches to crank down on the union. The threads are cut into precision PVC plastic; applying mechanical force will strip the threading grooves or warp the integrated o-ring seat, triggering air leaks that strip velocity from your skimmer's bubble vortex.
- Perform a 3-Month Vinegar Bath. To preserve the premium factory warranty matrix, make it a habit to lift the pump out of your sump environment every 90 days for an overnight citric acid or white vinegar soak. Saltwater sumps continuously vaporize calcium carbonate, which collects along the spinning pinwheel tracks. Dissolving these mineral sheets keeps the ceramic shaft gliding friction-free, preventing the motor from drawing high amperage and overheating.
- Verify Your Legacy Snout Threading First. If you are buying this pump to replace an older, discontinued Reef Octopus OTP-2000 pump, double-check your current skimmer connection points. Very old legacy pumps featured smooth black output tubes that relied on soft vinyl connectors and slip configurations. If your skimmer uses that older layout, you must purchase a dedicated 25mm metric output adapter or upgrade kit concurrently with the AQ-2000S to accommodate the modern, large grey threaded volute format.
