- Power off the skimmer pump and remove the skimmer from the sump.
- Disconnect the air intake tubing from the existing venturi barb.
- Pull the old venturi straight out of the pump’s intake volute.
- Inspect the intake area for any large debris or salt creep and wipe clean.
- Press the new ROP-AQ1000-V venturi firmly into the pump intake until it is fully seated.
- Reattach the air hose and restart the pump.
Pro Tips:
Dissolve salt creep weekly.
Because the air intake is narrow, salt crystals can form quickly. Once a week, let the pump "drink" half a cup of warm RO/DI water through the air hose while running to dissolve minor deposits before they restrict airflow.
Check the O-ring seal. Ensure the venturi fits snugly into the pump intake. If air or water leaks at this junction, the pump will lose vacuum pressure, significantly reducing your bubble production.
Don't force the hose. If your airline tubing is stiff, dip the end in warm water before sliding it onto the venturi barb. This prevents unnecessary stress on the plastic barb and helps avoid accidental snapping.
