Unlike standard internal skimmers that rely on a single water stream for both processing and moving water, the Classic 110EXT utilizes a sophisticated recirculating configuration. The onboard Aquatrance 1000s pinwheel pump acts solely to shred air and water together within the 5-inch chamber. A separate feed pump or direct overflow line (sold separately) determines the water flow-through rate, giving the hobbyist total control over nutrient dwell time.

CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Assemble the skimmer body unions, ensuring the internal bubble diffuser plate and all O-rings are securely seated.
- Mount the Aquatrance 1000s recirculation pump to the lower exterior body plumbing using the integrated union locks.
- Position the skimmer on a level surface. It can be mounted inside a sump chamber or externally next to the sump setup.
- Connect a dedicated feed pump (120–260 GPH recommended) or standard manifold line to the 0.5-inch water inlet pipe.
- Turn on the feed water pump first to fill the skimmer reaction chamber entirely before activating the recirculation pump.
- Plug the Aquatrance 1000s into a GFCI outlet and adjust the gate valve until the internal foam line settles near the base of the neck.
Pro Tips:
- Fine-Tuning the Feed Rate. Because this is a recirculating external unit, balancing water turn-over is critical. For high-bioload reef setups, adjust your feed pump closer to 150 GPH. Slowing the water flow-through gives the internal bubble cloud more time to strip organic waste, resulting in much darker, thick skimmate.
- Plumbing for External Use. While the Classic 110EXT features high-grade watertight seals, always place any external filtration equipment inside a shallow plastic containment tray or near a dedicated fish room floor drain for peace of mind.
- In-Line Flow Control. We highly recommend placing a standard ball valve or gate valve on the input plumbing line from your feed pump. This allows you to smoothly regulate water volume tracking through the skimmer body without adding back pressure to the independent Aquatrance recirculation loop.
