The active ingredient, glutaraldehyde, is hazardous in concentrated form, but when properly dosed, it is diluted by a factor of 33,000 and will not negatively affect aquarium inhabitants. The application concentration is sufficient to promote plant growth and is readily biodegradable. Any excess substance not absorbed by plants is consumed by filter bacteria, leaving behind only CO2 that benefits plants and water. It is safe to use continuously, and there is no accumulation of glutaraldehyde in the aquarium.
