Activated carbon. Phosphate remover. Nitrate reducer. It’s up to you!3 Sizes. Use Internally or Externally. For Saltwater or Freshwater.
AquaForest AF Series media reactors increase the contact time between your aquarium water and filter media resulting in a cleaner tank with more stable water parameters. Just fill the reactor with your favorite filter media to start removing organic pollutants, algae fuels, discolorations, and odors!
AquaForest media reactors are available in 3 sizes (Small, Medium, and Large) and are capable of running a variety of different types of filter media, like carbon and granular ferric oxide (GFO). They can be used in freshwater, saltwater, and marine/reef aquarium systems. Placement is easy too since they can be used internally (in water) or externally (outside of water).
Activated carbon. Phosphate remover. Nitrate reducer. It’s up to you! Here are some great options you might consider running in your AquaForest media reactor:
AquaForest CarbonRemoves organic pollutants, odors, and discolorations.
AquaForest Phosphate MinusRemoves phosphates and silica which fuel algae growth.
AquaForest Zeo MixZeolites remove ammonia and ammonium ions to prevent nitrates from accumulating.
AquaForest Carbon + AquaForest Phosphate MinusA combination of media for more powerful nutrient reduction.
You can even daisy-chain multiple reactors together to plumb a neat and effective filtration unit.
The reason aquarium hobbyists add media reactors to their aquarium systems is simple: to make the most out of the filter media! The problem using filter media inside a bag or sock is channeling. Since water travels the path of least resistance, water will “channel” around stationary media using the same well-worn paths. If water touches only one side of your media while it’s resting tightly packed inside a bag, your aquarium isn’t reaping the full benefits and you aren’t getting your money’s worth. In a media reactor—also commonly referred to as a fluidized reactor—the media gently moves around. This movement is generated by a sold separately water pump. A slow “simmer” or “tumble” (depending on the type of media) ensures all sides of the media granules make contact with your aquarium water. Simple and effective!
The up-flow design of AquaForest reactors is proven effective and keeps filter media suspended and evenly dispersed for maximum contact time. Water is pumped downward through a pipe in the center of the reactor. Gravity pushes it back up through a sponge, around your media, and out into your aquarium or sump.
The difference between AquaForest reactors and others is the meticulous attention to detail. AquaForest AF Series reactors are 100% acrylic (not plastic), making them highly resistant to damage and discoloration. Thumbscrews and a silicone O-ring seal prevent any leakage. Handsome white and purple color accents give the reactors a stylish modern look. The sponges on the top and bottom of the reactor are sandwiched between special slotted inserts which prevent the sponges from becoming disfigured but also help keep your media safely inside the reactor. This is of paramount importance when you are running resins and absorbers like GFO inside the reactor.
AquaForest AF Series Media Reactors are available in 3 sizes: Small (AF90), Medium (AF110), and Large (AF130).
