Klir / ATO Triple Level Sensor Replacement Square Mounting Magnet
The Klir Triple Level Sensor Replacement Square Mounting Magnet (SKU: CV-KLIR-ATO-MAG) is an authentic structural OEM replacement mounting accessory distributed by CoralVue to preserve accurate electronic tracking and prevent critical automated sensor errors under your aquarium stand. Automatic fleece rollers and smart automatic top-off (ATO) units rely heavily on highly responsive optical level sensors to manage water heights. On a roller filter, the sensor catches the rising water line inside the chassis when the 50-micron fleece clogs, signaling the 12V DC gear motor to advance a fresh layer of fabric. If the wet-side mounting magnet cracked from an accidental drop, swelled up due to long-term epoxy oxidation, or was misplaced during a deep sump cleaning overhaul, your sensor array will fall into the water. Instead of spending money on a completely new electronic sensor harness wire, dropping in this standalone factory original wet-side magnet instantly fixes your setup, returning complete structural security to your automated gear.
Molded to meet tight manufacturer tolerances, the CV-KLIR-ATO-MAG features a specialized recessed square pocket. Unlike round aftermarket hobby magnets that allow wire components to twist, swing, or slide out of line, this square layout aligns perfectly with the matching perimeter of the factory triple level sensor body. This flush fitment holds the optical prisms completely plumb, square, and level against your sump baffle. By holding the alignment completely steady, it prevents false high-water triggers, prevents motor-advance jams, and stops your return chamber from crashing due to misread water levels.
Key Features
Prevents Dynamic Level Creep: Holds the optical sensing block tightly against the glass wall, stopping it from sliding down or pivoting away from the active water column.
100% Rust-Proof Waterproof Isolation: The dense polymer coating isolates the high-strength neodymium interior core from corrosive saltwater exposure.
Saves Expensive Electronics: Allows operators to replace damaged mounting hardware without throwing away perfectly functioning electronic optical eye assemblies.
(Note: This retail SKU contains (1) standalone replacement square-pocket mounting magnet. Complete Klir automatic filter assemblies, 12V DC motor blocks, electronic triple sensor cables, and replacement fleece rolls are sold under separate product categories).

- Unplug your automatic fleece roller or ATO electronic smart controller from the wall outlet to kill power and prevent any accidental motor cycles during maintenance.
- Reach into your sump's mechanical compartment and carefully detach the old or damaged magnet away from the external sensor block. Slide the sensor harness wire completely out of the wet zone.
- Take a soft microfiber towel soaked in household white vinegar and thoroughly clean the sump wall glass where the sensor rests to remove hard algae, salt creep, or calcified tube scale.
- Take your fresh CV-KLIR-ATO-MAG square mounting magnet and line up its recessed inner pocket with the matching square profile on your level sensor housing. Press the sensor firmly into the pocket.
- Guide the sensor assembly back down to your desired operating level inside the sump, and bring your external dry-side magnet or sensor bracket up on the opposite side of the glass to lock the magnet in place.
- Verify the optical eyes are pointing straight out and are free of trapped air bubbles. Plug your controller back into its GFCI wall socket.
Pro Tips:
- Never Slide the Magnet Across Acrylic Sump Panels to Stop Scratches. When positioning this high-strength neodymium replacement magnet onto your sump baffle plate, always lift and place the magnet directly into position rather than sliding it across the surface. If a tiny grain of aragonite aquarium sand or a hard bit of calcified salt creep gets trapped between the hard polymer casing and an acrylic wall, sliding the magnet will dig a deep, permanent scratch right into the plastic. This scratch can block visibility and disrupt the optical path of the sensor prism eyes.
- Regularly Inspect the Casing for Pinholes or Bulging Swell Marks. During your semi-annual filter deep cleanings, take a close look at the plastic shell of your mounting magnet. If you notice any slight bulging, splitting seams, or fine orange rust stains tracking along the edges, discard the magnet immediately and replace it. A bulged shell means saltwater has pierced the outer seal and is actively corroding the inner neodymium iron core, which will slowly leach toxic iron oxide and heavy metal byproducts into your pristine reef water.
- Flick Trapped Micro-Bubbles Off the Sensor Body During Installation. When dropping your newly magnet-mounted sensor back down into a high-flow sump chamber, always tap the side of the housing with your finger a few times once it is fully submerged. The turbulent water pouring from your display tank drain lines generates millions of tiny micro-bubbles that can stick to the square plastic casing. If a bubble settles directly over the optical infrared eye prism, it can trick the controller into misreading the water line, causing your motor to continuously roll and waste fresh fleece.
