Klir Automatic Fleece Filter V1 Replacement Smart Controller Module
The Klir Automatic Fleece Filter V1 Replacement Smart Controller Module (SKU: CV-KLIR-CNTL) is an authentic OEM replacement electronic control component distributed by CoralVue to preserve the hands-free automation of your mechanical aquarium filtration loop. Drop-in automatic fleece rollers provide a substantial advantage over standard cloth socks, constantly winding fresh 50-micron fabric across your sump's drain path to capture suspended organic particulates before they can rot down into nitrates and phosphates. The electrical brain coordinating this extraction cycle is this specialized external controller. Because aquarium cabinets are highly demanding environments subject to continuous moisture, evaporation, splashing salt spray, and heat buildup, electronic components face steady wear. If your original control box suffered water damage, an accidental drop into the sump, or a short circuit during a power flicker, your filter will stop advancing. Swapping it out for this direct-fit factory control module quickly brings your system back to peak performance.
Engineered to strict factory parameters, the CV-KLIR-CNTL features the original plug-and-play wiring ports matching the V1 equipment array. The terminal lines connect easily to your existing stock 12V DC power brick and the legacy screw-in style optical level sensor. When the filter fleece becomes clogged with detritus, head pressure causes the water level to rise inside the chassis shell. Once the rising water submerges the optical eye, this controller senses the change in light refraction and fires a targeted power pulse to the motor block, advancing fresh media until the water drops safely back below the threshold.
Key Features
Prevents Waste Build-Up Disasters: Restores automatic advancing logic to keep clogged, foul-smelling fleece from backing up your display tank's overflow drainage lines.
Built-In Visual Diagnostic LED Array: Features multi-color alert indicators that communicate standard runtime states, motor cycles, and safety error lockouts at a glance.
Dual Model Frame System Utility: Fully backward-compatible with both the 4-inch (Di-4 V1) and 7-inch (Di-7 V1) original drop-in roller chassis frameworks.
(Note: This retail SKU contains (1) standalone replacement V1 controller module. Legacy screw-mount optical eye sensors, V2 magnetic sensor upgrade kits, replacement 12V DC power supplies, and 50-micron fleece rolls are sold under separate product categories).

- Disconnect the old, malfunctioning control module's power adapter brick from your wall socket or GFCI strip to safely cut electricity to the loop.
- Trace the wires coming from the old controller box and disconnect the power barrel connector, the motor line terminal, and the multi-pin optical sensor cord plug.
- Remove the old controller from your dry-side mounting bracket or cabinet hook and set it aside. Wipe the mounting area down with a clean, dry cloth.
- Mount your fresh CV-KLIR-CNTL V1 Controller Module securely on the cabinet wall, ensuring it is positioned well away from any potential plumbing leaks or damp areas.
- Plug the multi-pin cord from your original screw-in optical level sensor and the power connector from your motor block firmly into their matching ports on the new controller.
- Reconnect your 12V DC power adapter to the controller box, plug the adapter back into the wall outlet, and press the manual button to verify a successful test cycle.
Pro Tips:
- Never Mount the Electronic Controller Module Inside an Open Sump Tank Rim.
CRITICAL MOISTURE SAFETY EXCLUSION: While the internal circuit boards are shielded by an ABS outer shell, this controller unit is not submersible and is not completely waterproof. Mounting the box inside an open sump basin exposes it to continuous salt spray, high humidity, and direct splashing. This exposure can bridge circuit tracks and cause early electronic component failure. Always mount the module on the exterior cabinet wall or inside a dry equipment area using a proper drip loop.
- Confirm Your Sensor Style First to Ensure Compatibility. Before uploading this item or ordering it for a setup, check your level sensor configuration. This V1 controller (CV-KLIR-CNTL) utilizes a unique multi-pin interface designed explicitly for legacy systems with the original screw-in style optical eye sensor. If your fleece roller uses the newer, upgraded magnetic mount optical eye sensor block, this V1 box will not accept the connection. For those setups, you will need to source the specialized Klir Fleece Filter V2 Controller (CV-KLIR-V2-CONTRL) instead.
- Use the Manual Override Button to Easily Check for Mechanical Binding Jams. If your filter stops winding forward automatically but your water lines appear normal, press the manual override button on the face of the new box. If the motor clicks briefly or the controller flashes an error light without advancing the fleece, this indicates a physical media jam or stripped spindle teeth rather than an electronic fault. Slide the motor block up and verify that your wide fabric roll is tracking straight and free of salt creep before restarting.
