Klir
Klir by CoralVue provides automatic fleece filters that replace filter socks. They automatically advance 50-micron fleece when dirty, maintaining clear water with less maintenance.
Klir Automatic Fleece Filter 7-Inch Waste Collection Spindle
The Klir Automatic Fleece Filter 7-Inch Waste Collection Spindle (SKU: CV-KLIR-7WST-SPNDL) is an authentic structural OEM replacement hardware component distributed by CoralVue to preserve consistent mechanical filtration and prevent motor tracking failures. Automatic drop-in roller filters serve as a highly effective substitute for traditional cloth socks, continuously advancing a 50-micron non-woven fleece roll across the sump's drain path to capture suspended particulate matter before it can break down into nitrates and phosphates. While the fresh fabric unspools from a clean rod at the rear, this heavy-duty motorized waste spindle pulls the dirty material up and rolls it out of the water column. Because this spool features critical gear-mesh teeth and must be manipulated during every single media refresh, it is highly vulnerable to stress fractures, gear-stripping from manual force, or getting misplaced during a deep aquarium tear-down. Replacing a broken or missing core with this original factory spindle instantly restores absolute drive authority.
Molded to meet precise engineering thresholds, the CV-KLIR-7WST-SPNDL is calibrated strictly for the tracking channels of the Klir Di-7 Automatic Drop-In Filter. Unlike universal aftermarket rods or makeshift DIY pipe solutions that fit loosely, this factory spindle locks the rolling fabric perfectly square with the primary web path. This precise alignment stops the wet, heavy fleece from drifting sideways, wrapping lopsidedly, or bunching up against the acrylic housing side plates. By maintaining a uniform compression profile across the motorized web, it ensures the optical level sensors trigger exact advances, optimizing total media life and preventing unfiltered bypass water leaks around your sock tray.
Key Features
Restores Positive Motorized Drive: Ensures zero slippage between the 12V DC motor gear and the collection core, pulling heavy, sludge-laden fleece easily.
Handles Heavy Saltwater Moisture: Closed-polymer configuration won't expand, degrade, or seize up under continuous exposure to humid sump atmospheres.
Instant Slip-In Media Swaps: Lifts cleanly straight up and out of the tracking tracks, letting you clear out dirty, spent rolls in seconds without turning off plumbing valves.
(Note: This retail SKU contains (1) single standalone replacement motorized waste collection spindle. Smooth clean roll spindles, replacement 50-micron fleece rolls, swappable sump collars, clear vent tubes, and 12V DC motor blocks are sold under separate product categories).

While most of our equipment carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty, consumable products like fish and coral foods are not covered under traditional warranty terms due to their perishable nature and varied storage conditions. However, we fully stand behind the quality of every product we sell. If you experience any issues with your food purchase shortly after receiving it, such as concerns about freshness, packaging integrity, or product quality, please contact us at [email protected]. We're committed to making it right and will work with you to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.
Unplug your automatic fleece roller filter's electronic smart controller from the wall socket to prevent any accidental motor cycles during maintenance.
Carefully lift the entire Klir roller assembly out of your sump's 7-inch filter sock tray and lay it flat on a soft towel.
Slide the old motor block assembly straight up out of its frame tracks to disengage the gear mesh before handling the spools.
Lift out the old dirty waste spool or empty core from the front track, clear away any remnants of spent fleece, and slide the fresh CV-KLIR-7WST-SPNDL waste spindle into the front frame slots.
Thread the leading edge of your clean fleece down under the lower internal roller tracking rods, pull it up to this new spindle, and secure it using your factory foam tension rings and retainers.
Slide the motor assembly back down into its side plate track until its gear teeth lock perfectly into the spindle gear hub, then lower the filter back into your sump sock hole.
Pro Tips:
- Always Slide the Motor Up and Out Before Rotating the Waste Spindle.
CRITICAL HARDWARE PROTECTION RULE: Whenever you are threading a fresh roll of fleece or adjusting fabric tracking, never attempt to spin this waste collection spindle by hand while the motor block is slid down in place. This spindle locks directly into a high-torque planetary reduction gear set inside the motor. Forcing the spindle to rotate manually against the resistance of the gears will instantly strip the internal plastic teeth, permanently destroying your motor assembly and voiding your factory warranty.
- Keep the Spindle Gear Teeth Completely Free of Salt Creep and Hair Algae. Every time you perform a routine media change, inspect the gear teeth on the side of the spindle. When aquarium water evaporates or splashes near the drive assembly, it leaves behind hard, crusty white layers of calcified salt creep. If hair algae strands or hard salt crystals build up inside the gear lanes, they can cause the motor to skip, jam, or bind. Wipe the tracks clean with a warm vinegar cloth to ensure a completely smooth operation.
- Do Not Throw This Reusable Spindle Away When a Media Roll Finishes. Remember that this heavy black factory gear-lock spindle is designed to be a permanent, reusable hardware component. When a roll of fleece is fully wrapped and dirty, you only remove the fabric pack from the core during maintenance—ensure you aren't throwing away this primary drive hub by accident. Keeping a spare CV-KLIR-7WST-SPNDL in your emergency fish cabinet ensures you are never caught off guard if an accidental drop chips a gear tooth.
