Klir
Klir by CoralVue provides automatic fleece filters that replace filter socks. They automatically advance 50-micron fleece when dirty, maintaining clear water with less maintenance.
Klir Automatic Fleece Filter 7-Inch Clean Roll Spindle
The Klir Automatic Fleece Filter 7-Inch Clean Roll Spindle (SKU: CV-KLIR-7CLN-SPNDL) is an authentic structural OEM replacement hardware component distributed by CoralVue to maintain peak mechanical filtration performance and prevent tracking issues. Drop-in automatic roller filters serve as a highly effective substitute for traditional cloth socks, continuously advancing a 50-micron non-woven fleece roll across the sump's drain path to capture suspended particulate matter before it decays into nitrates and phosphates. While the dirty fleece is actively driven onto a motorized waste spool, the clean media roll rests on this dedicated unpowered spindle. Because this rod handles continuous rotational stress and must be handled during every single media refresh, it is highly vulnerable to getting lost in fish room utility spaces, accidentally thrown out with spent rolls, or fractured if dropped onto concrete floors. Replacing a lost or compromised rod with this original factory spindle instantly restores factory-spec tracking security.
Molded to meet precise engineering tolerances, the CV-KLIR-7CLN-SPNDL is calibrated strictly for the width and side-plate channels of the Klir Di-7 Automatic Drop-In Filter. Unlike universal aftermarket rods or makeshift DIY pipe solutions that fit loosely, this factory spindle holds the fleece bundle perfectly straight and centered within the intake frame. This exact positioning stops the wide 7-inch fabric from drifting sideways or binding against the outer guide wheels. By maintaining a uniform tension profile across the web path, it ensures the optical level sensors trigger exact, crisp advances, optimizing media life and preventing unfiltered bypass water leaks around your sock tray.
Key Features
Eliminates Material Drift and Binding: Keeps the raw, unspooled fabric aligned squarely with the primary tracking channels to stop edge tearing across wide runs.
Resists Salt Spray and High Humidity: Heavy-wall composite construction won't expand, degrade, or lock up inside damp aquarium sump cabinets.
Instant Drop-In Media Swaps: Slides effortlessly out of the side frame tracking lanes, letting you load a fresh 50-yard fleece roll in seconds without turning off plumbing valves.
(Note: This retail SKU contains (1) single standalone replacement clean roll spindle. Dedicated motorized waste spools, replacement 50-micron fleece rolls, swappable sump collars, clear vent tubes, and 12V DC motor blocks are sold under separate product categories).

While most of our equipment carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty, consumable products like fish and coral foods are not covered under traditional warranty terms due to their perishable nature and varied storage conditions. However, we fully stand behind the quality of every product we sell. If you experience any issues with your food purchase shortly after receiving it, such as concerns about freshness, packaging integrity, or product quality, please contact us at [email protected]. We're committed to making it right and will work with you to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.
Unplug your automatic fleece roller filter's electronic smart controller from the wall socket to prevent any accidental motor cycles during maintenance.
Carefully lift the entire Klir roller assembly out of your sump's 7-inch filter sock tray and lay it flat on a soft towel.
Slide your fresh 50-yard roll of 50-micron fleece (CV-KLIR-FLC7) out of its plastic protective wrapping sleeve.
Insert the CV-KLIR-7CLN-SPNDL clean roll spindle straight through the center hollow core of the fresh fleece roll until the rod extends out equally on both sides.
Align the protruding ends of the spindle with the open guide slots located at the rear top section of the 7-inch filter's side frames, and lower the roll into place.
Thread the leading edge of the clean fleece downward under the lower internal roller tracking rods, pull it up onto the opposite motorized waste spindle, secure it, and place the unit back into your sump sock hole.
Pro Tips:
- Always Differentiate Between the Clean Spindle and the Motorized Waste Spool. When managing your parts inventory under your stand, keep in mind that the clean roll spindle and the waste collection spool are completely different parts and are not interchangeable. This clean spindle (CV-KLIR-7CLN-SPNDL) is a smooth, unpowered rod that lets the clean fleece unspool freely with minimal resistance. The waste spindle (CV-KLIR-7WST-SPNDL) features an integrated plastic gear drive adapter designed to interlock with the 12V DC motor block teeth to actively pull the dirty material out of your water.
- Inspect the Center Core After a Media Change to Avoid Throwing the Spindle Away.
CRITICAL RECOVERY WARNING: The most common reason hobbyists lose this clean roll spindle is accidentally throwing it in the trash when a fleece roll runs out. When the wide 50-yard fabric roll is completely exhausted, the cardboard or thin plastic core will sit loose at the bottom of the holder. It is very easy to grab this empty core and toss it into the garbage can without realizing that your heavy black factory spindle rod is still sitting tucked inside it. Always slide the spindle out before discarding your empty rolls.
- Keep the Spindle Flanges Clean of Dried Salt Creep for Whisper-Quiet Spinning. Every time you perform a routine media change or pull your roller out for semi-annual cleaning, take a warm vinegar cloth and wipe the ends of the spindle and the matching guide tracking slots on the acrylic housing frame. Evaporating water leaves behind hard, white layers of calcified salt creep inside these tracks. If you drop a new roll of fleece onto salt-encrusted tracks, the spindle will experience high friction binding, which can strain your motor or create an annoying squeaking noise every time the filter advances.
