The Light Heavyweight Champion
The CoralCare Gen2 offers best-in-class spread, color blending, PAR distribution, and warranty. It's passively cooled and completely silent. You can control it with your iPhone, Android, PC/Mac, HYDROS Control 4, Neptune Systems Apex, or GHL ProfilLux. It's the world's only IP65-Rated and UL Listed reef light. Includes built-in color presets or create your own to share. Available in black or white.
The next generation of CoralCare’s innovative LED fixture is here. The CoralCare Gen2 offers a new, slimmer design, with passive cooling and wireless control. What’s more, we’ve further refined the light spectrum and distribution to create a more natural reef appearance, natural light patterns, and promote coral growth.
Excellent coral growth & natural reef appearance
Let life flourish with a wide spectral range. Proper lighting is one of the key aspects when maintaining a marine aquarium with corals and reef fish. The corals need the correct light intensity and spectral content to grow efficiently, but reefers also demand seamless color rendering so they can enjoy the brilliantly vivid colors of the corals. The Philips CoralCare spectral distribution is designed to achieve an ideal balance of those two criteria.
With the CoralCare Gen2, we’ve further optimized the light formula in order to enhance the natural color rendering in daylight settings and maximize the fluorescence of the corals in evening settings. The new Gen2 design features 68 state-of-the-art LEDs, smartly grouped over two distinct user-controlled channels. This offers you control over a wide range of color points (from natural white to saturated blue) without ever worrying about harming your corals with the wrong spectral content.
Natural light patterns
Just as with CoralCare Gen 1, the light is homogeneously mixed and distributed thanks to the optical light guide and diffused glass plate. We've further refined this with CoralCare Gen 2 by grouping the LEDs in triangular clusters and adding four carefully placed clear areas in the glass plate.
The cluster placement is deliberately chosen to create subtle but natural light patterns in the water. The clear areas in the glass plate add extra dynamic light effects when warm natural color points are selected. This mimics the patterns perceived on the ocean floor at noon when the sun is at its highest point. During the evening, when blueish color points are being selected, this dynamic effect fades just like it does in nature.
This architecture results in an ideal balance between efficiency, uniform light distribution in the aquarium, color homogeneity, and the right level of light dynamics.
Easy to Control & Install
Your CoralCare Gen2 LED fixture can be controlled wirelessly using your mobile device or with your PC. In addition, it includes a 0-10V port so you can connect the light to third-party aquarium controllers like the HYDROS Control 4, Neptune Systems Apex, and GHL ProfiLux. What's more, your new wireless controller is also compatible with CoralCare Gen1 fixtures.
Choose from user-friendly preprogrammed lighting schedules or easily create a custom 24-hour lighting schedule to suit your coral needs. You can even share your lighting schedules with other reefers!
Direct control is also available for maintenance or checking on your reef inhabitants. There's an acclimatization phase for introducing new corals or installing new CoralCare lamps, which allows you to gradually increase the intensity of the light to match the needs of your corals. The single box system (with integrated drivers) also includes a hanging kit for quick and easy installation with adjustable height and positioning.
Quality & reliability
CoralCare Gen2 is carefully tailored to suit the demanding conditions of your aquarium.
The new, slimmer design is still passively cooled and uses the most efficient LEDs on the market - all without any loss of light quality. It features:
DEAD SILENT
Do you hear that? That is the sound of silence. The CoralCare is passively cooled. There are no noisy fans to clean or replace. There are no air ducts that allow salt creep or dust to enter and cause damage.
SPLASH & DUST PROOF
The CoralCare has an IP65 rating. It is completely sealed and dust tight. It is protected from from salt spray, water splashes, and even jet streams of water coming from any direction. It's the perfect light for business or pleasure.
UL LISTED

Testimonials
"The Philips Coralcare is an ideal example of an LED lamp that is designed to show and grow corals—the intensity, spread and spectrum are all aimed to achieve coral growth comparable to what could be reached with the old standard of T5’s. Philips has done a lot of scientific research on the needs of the corals. Beginners will probably like the way Philips has designed these lights to be nearly fool proof. Advanced aquarists will probably see that these lights are among the best reef lights available nowadays."

"I'm going to give it an 8.9. It's perfect blending. It will work on an SPS tank. I guarantee you it will grow coral. They give you controls that allow you to be successful. The ability to just change the color and not mess it up in a way that would hurt your coral is a benefit. It is indicative of a company that knows what it's doing. This is high quality. It's a very T5-ey look. No fans, nothing to maintenance. Just put it in there and forget about it."
Ryan BatchellerPresident, Bulk Reef Supply
"For SPS tanks, it can cover a 31½" by 23½" area. Depending on your actual tank dimensions, this could actually save you money by having to reduce the number of fixtures needed to light your tank—which is a huge bonus. And, for me, being that dimensions of my tank--my 300 gallon reef tank--are 6' wide by 3' from front-to-back. I can use just 3 of these fixtures to replace the 8 fixtures on my tank. So it's going to be a significant improvement."

"This is a big light with a lot of LEDs and Philips' own diffusion panel. Overall it's good PAR and blends well. It's much sleeker and more compact the original fixture. It has a nice aesthetic to it. There are no fans, which is a huge plus. It is 100% passively cooled. There's no noise. Zero maintenance. You can wire up to four fixtures to one controller and configure it over WiFi, Bluetooth, or PC/USB. It also has a 0/10V port. It's certainly an interesting new addition to reef lighting. Love the silent aspect!"
Deven RichHobbyist and Host of Reef Dudes
"The Philips CoralCare is not only easy to size properly for most common sized tanks but with only two controls to dial in the spectrum and intensity, it's also one of the easiest lights to set up and run that we've had in our testing lab. I would actually recommend this as a very good option for mixed reef tanks. By far the most even distribution we've ever tested for more than one fixture. I also can't say enough about how dead silent the CoralCare is."
Randy RussellVideo Production Specialist, Bulk Reef Supply
"As an SPS addict, having a light that combines great spectrum with uniform coverage and PAR is extremely important to me. The CoralCare Gen2 checks all those boxes perfectly. Growth and coloration is as good as ever, and less shadowing means I’m able to grow coral in more areas of my tank. The fact that there’s no moving parts, no noise, and it’s built like a tank are just a bonus for me. My experience with the light has been exceptional thus far."

Luc Vogels is best known for being the mastermind behind the Philips CoralCare Gen 2 LED light fixture. He will be joining us all the way from the Netherlands. We look forward to discussing the CoralCare fixtures, his amazing tank builds, and so much more.
1. How is the CoralCare fixture cooled?
The CoralCare fixture is passively cooled (no active or moving parts), and no further cooling is required.
2. What kind of maintenance is required to ensure the long lifetime (25,000+ hours) of the CoralCare fixture?
Only limited maintenance is required. We recommend salt and dust spots are removed from the fixture every 2 weeks. This can be done with a wet cloth (thanks to the IP65 rating).
3. Is there any servicing available for the CoralCare fixture?
4. Where should I position the CoralCare controller?
The CoralCare controller has IP65 rating. Therefor it could be placed in a damp location as it perfectly meets the demanding requirements of a marine aquarium environment.
5. What are the fixture dimensions?
The dimensions are 460 x 410 x 57 mm – 18.11 x 16.14 x 2.24 "/po (L x W x H)
6. What is the ideal fixture installation height?
The fixture should be suspended at least 15 cm/5.91” above the surface of the water in the tank. The best optical light distribution is achieved (depending on tank size) at a height of between 15 cm/5.91” and 35 cm/13.78”.
