The Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 2 Outside Magnet Mount (SKU: ROP-OP2-DSMAG) is an authentic factory-spec replacement dry-side hardware assembly designed to preserve the safe position of your aquarium circulation pump. Internal wavemakers generate tremendous directional torque as they spin up to create surge and pulse cycles in your reef. If the original dry-side tracking magnet is dropped on a hard tile floor, cracked, or lost during regular equipment maintenance, the internal wet-side motor block will lose its anchor point, sliding down the glass or falling onto your delicate corals. This replacement stock magnet instantly restores a safe, factory-original hold.

- Turn off the main electrical power line to your wavemaker pump controller before handling your mounting setup.
- Hold the internal wet-side pump firmly inside the tank with one hand so it does not drop into your live rock or damage corals.
- Slide your old or damaged dry-side magnet sideways away from the pump zone with your other hand, then pull it clear of the glass pane.
- Clean the exterior glass target surface thoroughly with a microfiber cloth to clear away any salt crust, dust, or smudges.
- Place the new ROP-OP2-DSMAG replacement outer magnet onto the dry side of the glass, several inches away from the wet-side pump's position.
- Slowly and gently slide the new outer dry magnet toward the internal pump head until the magnetic fields lock together securely.
Pro Tips:
- Never Snap the Magnets Straight Together. Rare-earth aquarium magnets are incredibly powerful. When installing your new replacement dry-side mount, never bring it straight toward the internal wet-side magnet. If they snap together directly from a distance, the intense force can smash the glass panel or painfully pinch your fingers. Always place the dry magnet far to the side on the exterior glass and gently slide it over until it connects with the pump's magnetic field.
- Keep Your Glass Cleaner Magnet Clean Too. Before sliding your outside dry magnet across the glass to align it with the inner pump block, make sure there is no fine dust, sand grains, or dried salt spray trapped on the padding. Even small particles trapped under a powerful magnet can act like sand paper, leaving permanent scratches on your glass as you move the pump. A quick wipe down with a damp microfiber cloth keeps your view pristine.
- Store Extra Magnets Separately From Electronics. If you keep an extra replacement outside magnet in your fish tank stand as a backup, keep it away from automated equipment controllers, power supply bricks, magnetic test probes, and smart devices. Strong static magnetic fields can interfere with or damage sensitive internal circuit relays and electronic storage drives if stored right next to them. Keep backups isolated in their original boxes.
