IceCap ATO Siphon Break
Automated freshwater top-off systems are vital for maintaining salinity, but improper hose elevation can trigger continuous gravity siphoning even after the refill pump turns off. The IceCap ATO Siphon Break (SKU: IP-ATO-SB) is an essential OEM safety fitting engineered specifically to protect your aquarium against accidental freshwater floods and salinity crashes.
When a DC top-off pump pushes water over a high loop into your sump or display, a continuous siphon can form if the water level in the top-off reservoir is higher than the tubing exit point. The IceCap Siphon Break installs directly inline along the flexible tubing. When the pump is actively running, water flows straight through to the aquarium. The moment the controller cuts power to the pump, the engineered air vent introduces air into the line, instantly breaking the liquid column to stop water flow immediately.
Installation Orientation Requirement
To function correctly, the siphon break fitting must be mounted higher than the maximum water level of your freshwater top-off reservoir and oriented so the air vent points downward into the reservoir or sump.

This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse, or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of the owner's or his agent's first knowledge of the defect.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given the first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements, or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary, or consequential damages of any nature, however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.

Installation & Set-Up Guidelines:
Turn off your ATO controller and locate the flexible top-off hose leading from your reservoir pump to the aquarium.
Cut the top-off hose at a point that sits higher than the highest water line of your freshwater reservoir.
Push the lower section of hose (coming from the pump) firmly onto the bottom barbed inlet of the IP-ATO-SB fitting.
Push the upper section of hose (leading to the sump/display) firmly onto the top barbed outlet.
Position the fitting inside or directly over the reservoir boundary, ensuring the small side air-bleed hole points down into the container to catch minor water drops during fill cycles.
Pro Tips:
- Keep Siphon Hole Above Water. Never submerge the siphon break fitting or the output tip of the top-off hose in water. Both air ports must remain in open air above the water surface to draw in air and break the water column when the pump shuts down.
- Inspect Air Vent Periodically. Check the small air vent hole on the side of the siphon break every few months. Clean away any dried dust, mineral deposits, or salt crust using a toothpick or small needle to ensure airflow remains completely unblocked.
