The Reef Octopus CL150 Automatic Neck Cleaner (ANC) is a specialized maintenance upgrade designed to keep your high-performance protein skimmer running at its maximum potential. In any skimmer, a layer of thick organic waste quickly coats the internal neck, creating surface tension that prevents fine bubbles from efficiently reaching the collection cup. The CL150 eliminates this performance barrier by using a motorized lid to mechanically wipe the neck wall clean multiple times throughout the day.
By maintaining a pristine skimmer neck, the CL150 allows for a more consistent foam head and a significant increase in the volume of dry skimmate produced. This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Remove the existing collection cup lid from your Reef Octopus 150 or SRO-2000INT skimmer.
- Secure the squeegee blade assembly onto the drive shaft of the CL150 motorized lid.
- Place the CL150 lid onto the collection cup, ensuring the blades are centered inside the skimmer neck.
- Connect the 24V AC power supply to the motor and plug it into a timer or aquarium controller.
- Configure your controller to run the cleaner for 15–20 seconds, two to four times per day.
- Periodically inspect the silicone blades for any trapped salt or debris and rinse with freshwater.
Pro Tips
Run the cleaner for only 15–20 seconds per cycle. Long run times are not necessary to clear the neck and can lead to premature motor or blade wear. Short, frequent bursts are much more effective at maintaining a clear path for foam.
Position the output of the skimmer drain into a large container. Because the CL150 significantly increases the volume of skimmate your unit produces, your collection cup may fill much faster than before. Using a secondary waste collector prevents overflows.
Always use an automated timer. Running the unit 24/7 will drastically shorten the 1,500-hour estimated lifespan of the motor. Intermittent operation via an aquarium controller is the best way to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
