Reef Octopus Automatic Neck Cleaner Replacement Blade - Version A
The Reef Octopus Version A Replacement Blade is an essential maintenance component designed to keep your automated skimmer cleaning system operating at peak efficiency. Over time, constant exposure to saltwater and the mechanical friction of wiping organic waste can cause the original silicone blades to become stiff, warped, or torn. This Version A blade is the genuine factory replacement required to restore the thorough 360-degree cleaning action of your Reef Octopus 110 and 150 series neck cleaners.
A functioning squeegee is critical for maintaining high-volume foam production. If the blade is worn, it will leave behind a thin film of "skimmer mud," which increases surface tension and causes bubbles to pop prematurely before they reach the collection cup. Crafted from high-grade, saltwater-safe silicone, the Version A blade provides the perfect balance of rigidity and flexibility to hug the internal diameter of the skimmer neck without causing scratches to the acrylic surface.

Pro Tips
Clean the blades during every cup cleaning. Even if you aren't replacing them, wiping the silicone blades with a soft cloth prevents grit from becoming embedded, which protects your skimmer's acrylic neck from scratches.
Soak new blades in warm water before installation. If the replacement blade has a slight curve from shipping, a quick soak in warm freshwater will help it regain its shape and ensure immediate, full-surface contact with the skimmer neck.
Check for ozone damage. If you run ozone in your skimmer, check your blades every 6 months. Ozone can cause silicone to degrade faster than normal. If the blade feels gummy or leaves a black residue, it’s time for a Version A replacement.
