IceCap High-Output UV Sterilizer Replacement 2-Inch PVC Slip Adapters (SKU: IP-UV-PVC2)

The IceCap High-Output UV Sterilizer Replacement 2-Inch PVC Slip Adapters (SKU: IP-UV-PVC2) are authentic structural OEM plumbing components distributed by CoralVue to allow safe integration into rigid, high-volume filtration lines. High-output ultraviolet clarification systems require high, non-restrictive flow paths to combat nuisance dinoflagellates, cloudy bacterial blooms, and free-swimming parasites outside of the sump environment. Because these adapters serve as the direct baseline contact face between your home's pressurized return lines and the sterilizer vessel, their structural condition is paramount. Over years of operation, seasonal maintenance disconnects, accidental plumbing impacts, or the drying action of heavy PVC solvent glues can cause old plastic adapter flanges to crack, shear, or split under pressure. Replacing weathered fittings with this factory-original pair keeps your high-flow loop stable and leak-free.

Engineered to fit tight professional plumbing metrics, these replacement slip tails are cataloged as Part 13 in the official engineering schematic assembly blueprint. Unlike generic, non-aquarium metric fittings that cause structural alignment issues and require specialized converter couplings, the IP-UV-PVC2 slides straight into the native IceCap UV Housing Port. This slip interface allows you to run high-volume, 2-inch plumbing directly into your filtration circuit to eliminate head-pressure friction loss. For systems running tighter plumbing lines, these adapters serve as a flat, sturdy base that can be cleanly reduced down using standard hardware store reduction bushings without straining your sterilizer's main body housing.

    Key Features

    • Eliminates Restrictive Head-Pressure Friction: The full 2-inch inner path lets massive volume return streams flow freely through the contact tube without backing up your pump.

    • Provides a Sturdy, Flat Plumbing Base: Easily accommodates standard reduction bushings to easily step down your lines to 1.5-inch, 1-inch, or 3/4-inch configurations.

    • Dual Functionality for Flexible Hosing: Designed to act as the primary structural slip receiver where the factory multi-tiered stepped hose barbs (Part 16) must be glued into place.

    • (Note: This retail SKU contains (2) individual replacement 2-inch PVC slip adapters. Threaded quick-disconnect union nuts, rubber port O-rings, flexible stepped hose barbs, clear quartz sleeves, and replacement bulbs are sold under separate product categories).

While most of our equipment carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty, consumable products like fish and coral foods are not covered under traditional warranty terms due to their perishable nature and varied storage conditions. However, we fully stand behind the quality of every product we sell. If you experience any issues with your food purchase shortly after receiving it, such as concerns about freshness, packaging integrity, or product quality, please contact us at [email protected]. We're committed to making it right and will work with you to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.

    1. Shut down your central aquarium return pump or the dedicated feed line supplying your inline UV bypass loop. Close upstream and downstream ball valves to isolate the circuit, and drain the internal water column completely.
    2. Unthread the large threaded quick-disconnect union nuts counter-clockwise on both the intake and discharge ports of your UV sterilizer body to drop the old line connection.
    3. Cut your existing PVC pipe lines clean using a pipe cutter or fine saw just behind the old, damaged, or cracked adapter fittings.
    4. Slide your factory threaded union nuts onto your main PVC pipes before gluing, and clean the pipe ends and the inside of the new IP-UV-PVC2 slip sockets with clear PVC purple primer.
    5. Apply a uniform layer of quality PVC solvent cement to both matching tracks, push the pipe firmly into the adapter socket with a slight 1/4-turn twist, and hold it steady for 15 seconds to form a permanent solvent weld.
    6. Check that your internal rubber union O-rings are seated completely flat inside the port grooves, bring the new adapters flush to the vessel ports, and thread the quick-disconnect collar nuts down clockwise until hand-tight.

    Pro Tips:

    • Always Slide the Threaded Union Nuts Onto Your Pipes Prior to Applying Glue. When welding your fresh IP-UV-PVC2 adapters onto your rigid PVC lines, always verify that the plastic threaded union retention nut is already sitting on the pipe behind the fitting. Once you apply PVC primer and solvent cement to this tight 2-inch socket, the chemical reaction welds the pieces into a single permanent block within seconds. If you forget to slide the locking nut onto the pipe beforehand, you will be unable to hook the adapter back onto your sterilizer vessel, forcing you to cut and throw away your brand-new fitting.
    • Never Use Hand Tools or Wrenches to Secure Your Quick-Disconnect Union Collars. When tightening your plumbing connections back down over the newly installed adapters, always spin and secure the large threaded union nuts entirely by hand. Never use plumbing wrenches, channel locks, or strap pliers. The internal rubber O-ring is engineered to create a complete, airtight seal under minimal hand compression. Using metal tools can overtighten the connection, fracturing the adapter's plastic mounting flange or stripping the threads right off your primary housing body.
    • Allow a Full 24-Hour Cure Period Before Placing the Solvent Welds Under Pump Pressure. While premium PVC solvent cement sets up hard within minutes, the chemical welding process requires a full 24 hours to completely clear internal gases and cure to full burst-strength capacity. Because aquarium return systems run under continuous line pressure and experience micro-vibrations from high-turnover pumps, pushing water through a fresh connection too early can weaken the internal joints and lead to sudden trace leaks or blowouts inside your equipment cabinet. Always leave the lines dry for a full day before re-pressurizing your loop.
