    • Genuine OEM Direct Replacement: Authentic factory-spec electronic water level safety switch designed exclusively for the flagship Reef Octopus VarioS-10 controllable DC pump.
    • Standard 6.7-Foot Factory Lead: Offers a generous 2-meter connection wire to cleanly route out of sump bays and up to your primary equipment control panel.
    • Waterproof Threaded Locking Fitting: Features a proprietary round multi-pin connector with an internal compression gasket for a moisture-sealed, plug-and-play link.
    • Proactive System Flood Prevention: Instantly signals the smart controller to kill all motor power the moment an unsafe high-water or low-water threshold is crossed.
    • Reef-Safe Magnetic/Mechanical Float: Formed from high-purity, non-leaching marine polymers completely free of exposed metal components to eliminate rust hazards.
    • Versatile Orientation Logic: Reversible mechanical float barrel configuration allows the switch to function as a high-water cutoff or a dry-run protection line.

Reef Octopus VarioS-10 Pump Controller Float Switch - 6.7 ft (ROP-VAR10-FS)

The Reef Octopus VarioS-10 Pump Controller Float Switch (SKU: ROP-VAR10-FS) is an authentic factory-spec electronic safety sensor distributed by CoralVue to preserve the automatic flood protection loops of your high-volume filtration network. The industrial-class VarioS-10 pump block drives substantial fluid volume and pressure across commercial-scale manifolds. If an out-of-tank drain line plugs or a skimmer collection cup experiences sudden over-foaming, a high-power return pump can rapidly drain a sump reservoir and pump hundreds of gallons of water directly onto your floor before manual intervention is possible.

This premium 6.7-foot (2-meter) mechanical float switch functions as an electronic safety line. When integrated into the dedicated safety port of the VarioS-10 smart controller, it continuously monitors real-time fluid boundaries. The moment rising or falling water physically shifts the internal magnetic barrel, the sensor breaks the low-voltage circuit, forcing the controller to instantly halt pump operation and display a visual error alert. Built entirely out of saltwater-inert plastics, the sensor assembly features a proprietary circular threaded plug that locks securely into the controller dock. This design prevents environmental humidity or localized saltwater splashes from cross-circuiting the communication pins, ensuring absolute operational reliability.

    Key Features

    • True VarioS-10 Factory Profile: Pin-out layout and connection architecture configured explicitly to sync with the high-voltage 36V VarioS-10 controller block.

    • Shielded Marine-Grade Cable: Insulated with an extra-thick polymer jacket that resists salt encrustation, kinking, and structural degradation from continuous submersion.

    • Threaded Waterproof Locking Ring: Polymer collar nut prevents the data connection line from accidentally pulling loose or slipping under heavy cabinet vibration.

    • (Note: This replacement accessory consists of the 6.7-foot electronic float switch assembly only. Adjustable acrylic mounting brackets, smart controllers, and primary pump assemblies are sold separately).

    Verified Hardware Compatibility

    • Reef Octopus VarioS Series: Engineered exclusively as the correct replacement sensor trigger for the Reef Octopus VarioS-10 Controllable Circulation Pump Controller ecosystem.

    • (Note: Due to proprietary multi-pin connection matrices and matching electronic thresholds unique to the flagship 36V VarioS-10 line, this float switch cannot be used with smaller 24V pump models such as the VarioS 2, 4, 6, or 8 networks).

    What’s Included:

    • (1) Reef Octopus Replacement VarioS-10 Controller Float Switch with 6.7 ft. Power Lead Cord

    • (Note: Acrylic mounting brackets, cable extension lines, wire organizers, and VarioS-10 pump units are sold separately).

    Technical Specs:

    • Official Manufacturing Title: VarioS 10 Pump Controller Float Switch, 6.7 ft.

    • SKU / Factory Part Identifier: ROP-VAR10-FS

    • Total Cable Length Profile: 6.7 Feet / 2.0 Meters Continuous Lead

    • Connection Interface Type: Waterproof Threaded Male Round Multi-Pin Connector

    • Primary Material Matrix: Saltwater-Safe High-Impact Non-Corrosive Polymer

    1. Disconnect the primary power supply brick from your VarioS-10 controller to temporarily deactivate all system electricity before managing electronic lines.
    2. Thread the sensor body through your existing mounting bracket collar (such as the ROP-VARIOS-FM) and secure the plastic locking nut underneath.
    3. Route the 6.7-foot shielded cable away from raw water splash zones up to your dry equipment control board panel.
    4. Align the internal registration alignment notch on the male float switch plug with the dedicated safety port on the bottom of the VarioS-10 controller.
    5. Push the plug straight into the socket and spin the integrated plastic collar clockwise until hand-tight to lock the moisture-resistant seal flush.
    6. Plug your main pump power supply back into the wall, lift the mechanical float barrel manually with your fingertip, and verify that the pump cuts power instantly.

    Pro Tips:

    • Rinse the Mechanical Float Barrel Monthly. Because this float switch sits directly inside your active aquarium water line or wastewater collection cup, a fine, organic glaze of bio-slime, calcified minerals, and salt creep will naturally dry along the vertical slider track. If left uncleaned for several months, this crust can physically glue the float barrel in place. If the barrel cannot slide freely, the switch will fail to register a real-world flood event. Wipe the assembly clean and test its movement monthly.
    • Never Force the Multi-Pin Terminal Plug into the Controller. The proprietary waterproof connector on this sensor wire features precision-molded internal guide pins that ensure the low-voltage communication paths register perfectly vertical. When coupling the line, always match the alignment groove before pressing down. Forcing a misaligned plug will instantly bend or break the fine internal gold pins, permanently destroying the sensor line and potentially shorting out your smart controller board.
    • Position the Switch Away from Turbulent Bubble Paths. When mounting the float switch inside your sump chamber or skimmer cup, avoid placing the sensor directly above a high-velocity bubble diffuser or right next to an incoming drain line. Rapidly bursting microbubbles and heavy water turbulence can create continuous micro-vibrations that rattle the mechanical float up and down rapidly. This excessive movement can cause the controller to trigger false shut-off loops or experience erratic pump cycling. Place the mount in a calm, baffled tracking section whenever possible.
