    • Genuine OEM Direct Replacement: Authentic factory-spec protective front cover designed specifically to frame the high-output stator of your Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4 wavemaker.
    • Wide-Angle Hydrodynamic Vanes: Specially angled directional slats maximize internal clearance while producing a broad, coral-safe 4,500 GPH current pattern.
    • Integrated Livestock Safety Grid: Keeps inquisitive reef fish, wandering anemones, and clean-up crew snails safe from spinning propeller blades.
    • Quick-Twist Locking Alignment: Features proprietary interlocking tabs that snap securely onto the pump stator without requiring screws or tools.
    • Saltwater-Inert Rigid Casing: Molded from heavy-duty, marine-grade polymer that resists flexing, brittle cracks, and aggressive coralline algae anchoring.
    • Streamlined Maintenance Profiling: Smooth interior finish makes it easy to brush away detritus, organic film, and calcified buildup during routine pump baths.

Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4 Replacement Flow Cage (ROP-OP4-CGE)

The Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4 Replacement Flow Cage (SKU: ROP-OP4-CGE) is an authentic factory OEM protective front cover piece manufactured by CoralVue to preserve the safe, broad water circulation of your marine habitat. Operating a high-velocity circulation grid means your pump needs to draw in massive volumes of water efficiently. Because wavemakers run continuously submerged inside crowded reef tanks, the front cage is your first line of defense. If your original stock cage is cracked from an accidental drop on hard flooring during equipment maintenance, or if its alignment tabs become brittle and snap, replacing the cover is critical to protecting both your internal mechanics and your live animals.

This genuine replacement cage is engineered to manage the intense force of the pump's 4,500 GPH output without causing restrictive backpressure or vibrations. The guard features structured guide slats that transform narrow propeller spray into a gentle, open-stream current that simulates natural ocean movements across large coral colonies. The structural spacing is tight enough to prevent scavenging snails or curious fish from wandering into the impeller assembly during feed modes, while remaining open enough to prevent rapid detritus clogging.

    Key Features

    • True Factory Fitment: Matches original equipment specifications exactly to fit securely onto the native Octo Pulse 4 pump motor frame.

    • Livestock Protection Shield: Creates an effective physical barrier that guards wandering invertebrates and fish from the high-torque internal magnetic rotor.

    • Optimized Diffusion Slats: Specifically shaped to spread water movement outward, helping to eliminate tissue-shredding flow hot spots.

    • Toolless Maintenance Access: Simple twist-and-lock configuration allows you to remove the cage in seconds for effortless cleaning access to the internal shaft.

    Verified Hardware Compatibility

    • Reef Octopus Wavemaker Series: Sized explicitly for the large-body Octo Pulse 4 (OP-4) and Octo Pulse 4+ wave pump assemblies.

    • (Note: This cage is designed for the larger OP-4 series footprint. If you operate the smaller model, you must use partner part number ROP-OP2-CGE to match the standard Octo Pulse 2 casing diameter).

    1. Turn off your wave pump controller and disconnect the main power cable before working on your equipment.
    2. Remove the submerged pump body from your display aquarium and place it on a stable workbench.
    3. Grip the motor housing with one hand, turn the damaged or dirty flow cage counter-clockwise to unlock the tabs, and pull it forward.
    4. Clean the mounting lip of the motor block to clear out any hidden sand grains, coralline flakes, or organic film.
    5. Align the locking tabs on the rim of the new ROP-OP4-CGE replacement cage with the matching tracks on your pump body.
    6. Press the cage forward firmly and twist it clockwise until you feel the tabs click home into their locked position.

    Pro Tips:

    • Do Not Force the Locking Tabs Under Pressure. When reassembling your wavemaker with its new cover cage, the connection should be smooth. If the plastic tabs feel stuck or jam as you try to twist the cage onto the motor frame, do not force them. Forcing the connection can bend or snap the small locking tabs off the motor housing. Check to see if your internal impeller assembly or its rubber end bushing is sitting crookedly, which can prevent the front cage from seating flat against the motor block.
    • Keep an Eye Out for Hidden Nudibranchs or Snails. Before snapping your replacement cage into place, take a close look at the open propeller well. Small pests, such as zoanthid-eating nudibranchs or tiny vermetid snail shells, love to tuck themselves inside the tight plastic corners of wavemaker assemblies. Clearing these away before locking the cover ensures your pump starts up cleanly and maintains maximum current without throwing an error code on your controller dashboard.
    • Use Citric Acid for Regular Calcium Maintenance. If you are changing your cage because the old one is heavily coated in hard white calcium crust or pink coralline algae, avoid scraping the plastic with metal razor blades. Scraping can leave deep scratches that give new algae a stronger foothold. Instead, soak the assembly in a warm bath of water mixed with pure citric acid powder for 20 minutes. The safe acid solution dissolves the tough mineral crust completely, making it easy to wipe down to a clean, factory finish with a soft brush.
