- Essential Maintenance Component: Replacing this high-stress compression gasket during your annual teardown guarantees day-one operational security.
IceCap High-Output UV Sterilizer Replacement Quartz Sleeve Rubber Seal (SKU: IP-UV-RBSE)
The IceCap High-Output UV Sterilizer Replacement Quartz Sleeve Rubber Seal (SKU: IP-UV-RBSE) is an authentic soft-hardware OEM replacement gasket distributed by CoralVue to preserve structural water isolation and protect high-voltage electrical components. Ultraviolet sterilization operates under constant system flow, driving a pressurized water column directly around a clear quartz sleeve containing a high-heat germicidal bulb. Because the baseline separation between the wet water path and the dry electrical lamp socket relies entirely on compression mechanics, the integrity of this specialized collar gasket is absolute. Over months of non-stop operation, high operating temperatures, and contact with mineral-heavy tank water, the factory seal will gradually deform, harden, compress, or develop micro-fissures. Swapping out a weathered ring for this original factory part keeps your system performing reliably.
Meticulously engineered to fit the precise mouth geometry of your system, this component stands as Part 9 in the master engineering blueprint layout. It features a unique, thick-wall blue profile designed to stretch perfectly level with the rim of the IceCap Replacement Quartz Sleeve. Unlike ordinary utility hardware store O-rings that quickly break down, warp, or crack under intense shortwave ultraviolet radiation, the IP-UV-RBSE features an ultra-dense, UV-stabilized elastomer matrix built to maintain tight sealing elasticity over a full year of continuous operational runtime. Replacing this critical piece during your annual maintenance routine keeps your equipment room completely safe from surprise water leaks.
Key Features
Prevents Catastrophic System Short-Circuits: Blocks raw pressurized water loops from bypassing the quartz lip and flooding your dry bulb filaments.
Secures Uniform Compression Loading: Supple material allows the housing cap collar to compress evenly without twisting or cracking the delicate glass quartz flange.
Perfect Multi-Wattage Interlock: Drops cleanly into the upper tracking channels of the 18W, 27W, 40W, and 90W sterilizer housings.
(Note: This retail SKU contains (1) individual standalone blue replacement quartz sleeve rubber seal. Clear quartz glass sleeves, vessel flat seals, threaded housing locking caps, and replacement bulbs are sold under separate product categories).

- Unplug the main electronic ballast power supply from your wall outlet. Disconnect your feed pump lines and drain the water column inside the UV container completely.
- Unthread the upper cord-retaining nut counter-clockwise, carefully slide the high-output lamp out of the quartz core, and lay the bulb down on a soft towel.
- Unthread the master quartz sleeve compression housing cap nut to expose the upper lip tracking channel of your quartz glass sleeve.
- Slide the worn, flattened, or brittle old blue rubber seal off the upper neck of the glass sleeve. Clean the glass rim and the inside of the collar cap with warm fresh water to remove any salt crust or scale.
- Take your fresh IP-UV-RBSE blue rubber seal and press it smoothly down over the rim of the quartz sleeve. Ensure that it sits perfectly level with the glass lip edge and is packed evenly without twists or wrinkles.
- Push the quartz sleeve back down into the tracking groove of the vessel mouth. Thread the compression nut down clockwise entirely by hand until tight, execute a quick leak test under active water flow, and insert your bulb to restore operations.
- Always Execute a Dry Component Leak Test Prior to Installing Your Electronic Bulb. Whenever you open your sterilizer housing to replace the IP-UV-RBSE seal, always perform a mandatory leak test before putting your bulb back inside. After hand-tightening the compression collar down over the new blue seal, plumb the housing back into your active water circuit without the lamp installed. Run your feed pump continuously for 5 to 10 minutes and check the inside of the quartz sleeve with a flashlight to ensure it remains 100% dry. If no moisture appears, you have achieved a proper seal and can safely install your dry electrical components.
- Never Use Metal Hand Tools to Tighten the Quartz Sleeve Compression Nut. When locking the transition cap back down to seat your new blue rubber seal, always spin and tighten the housing nuts entirely by hand. Never use plumbing wrenches, channel locks, or pliers. The delicate quartz glass sleeve sits directly underneath this compression path; applying excess torque with a metal tool will instantly shatter the fragile quartz flange or strip the plastic polymer threads on your housing vessel, destroying your setup.
- Lightly Lubricate the New Seal with Reef-Safe Silicone Grease to Prevent Pinches. To ensure your new blue sleeve seal settles into position perfectly without binding, take a brief moment to coat the outer surface of the rubber ring with a paper-thin layer of pure, reef-safe silicone grease. Pushing a completely dry rubber gasket into a dry plastic tracking cap can cause the rubber to friction-grab, bunch up, or roll sideways as you thread the cap down. A pinched gasket creates a microscopic bypass gap that will let water slowly track into the dry sleeve, shorting your lamp and tripping your home GFCI breaker.
