2 Mil Fish Shipping Bags for Live Fish, Shrimp, and Coral Frags

CoralVue 2 Mil Fish Shipping Bags are clear polyethylene bags made to carry live fish, shrimp, inverts, and coral frags. A mil is one thousandth of an inch, so the film is 0.002 in thick. A metallocene resin is added to help the film resist tears and punctures, and the bottom seams are sealed twice to help stop leaks.

The film is food-grade, BPA-free, and meets FDA standards for food contact. It is made in the USA by a family-owned factory. The 2 mil line is the lighter option and comes in eight sizes, from 3x14 in for small animals to 20x30 in for large fish. Each size is sold by the case.

Pro Tips:

  • Move up to 3 mil for sharp spines or heavy bags. The 2 mil film works for many small animals and frags. If an animal has sharp spines, or the bag will hold a lot of water, switch to the 3 mil bags or double bag.
  • Check each bag for leaks before you pack it. Set the sealed bag on a towel or newspaper for about 10 minutes. A slow leak will show up before the box is closed.
  • Pack the bags so they cannot move. Fill the empty space in the box with packing material. A bag that shifts in the box has more chance of getting rubbed or poked.

Instructions:

  1. Open the bag and add aquarium-safe water until it is about one-third full.
  2. Add the fish or coral.
  3. Leave the rest of the bag filled with air, so it is about two-thirds air.
  4. Grasp the top of the bag, twist it, and fold the top down.
  5. Secure the fold with a rubber band or tape.
