AIO Aquarium Skimmer Assembly

The AIO 120/240 aquarium skimmer comes nearly preassembled. Here is a quick overview of how to properly assemble and operate your new AIO Aquarium Protein Skimmer:

Assembly Step 1

To properly install the AIO skimmer pump, align the intake of the pump with the hole on the bottom side of the skimmer body and insert the pump's output into the bottom base of the body. Adjust the pump's power cable into the slit along the side of the skimmer body run upwards. Push the wire into the provided slots along the back of the skimmer to secure the power wire to the skimmer body.

Assembly Step 2

To properly install the air intake assembly, position the open end of the venturi facing the skimmer body and gently insert the air intake into the corresponding hole on the side of the skimmer body that lines up with the pump intake. Clip the airline into the side mount on the skimmer body to secure the airline in place and support the silencer.

Assembly Step 3

To install the adjustable mounting bracket, simply slide it into the corresponding channel located on the backside of the skimmer body. You can adjust the mount's height by sliding the bracket up or down according to your preference. Once you have positioned the bracket where you want it, secure it in place by tightening the Philips set screw. Remember to be careful not to over-tighten the screw.

Assembly Step 4

The collection cup just rests within the skimmer's body. The height of the cup can be adjusted by moving the o-ring on the skimmer cup up or down.

Installation

To begin the installation, carefully position the AIO skimmer body into the filtration compartment located at the back of your All-In-One Aquarium, ensuring that the end of the pump's power chord is not submerged. After positioning it correctly, use the mounting brackets thumbscrew to secure it to the side of the tank, taking care not to over-tighten the thumbscrews.

Operation

The controller and power supply are not waterproof and should never be placed over water. Be sure proper drip loops are in place to prevent water from traveling to the controller or power supply. Attach the pump's power wire to the inline controller and the other end to the power supply. To power your new AIO skimmer, plug in the power adapter to an electrical socket and hit the power button on the controller.

Breaking in Period

Once you have completed the proper installation and setup of the skimmer, it is recommended that you allow it to undergo a break-in period of at least 2 weeks. During this period, the water will gradually wash away any inert oils that may have been introduced during factory handling and coat the inner walls of the skimmer with live bacteria. It is important to keep the skimmer cup in a higher position during this time and avoid adjusting it too early, as doing so may lead to inconsistent performance and potential overflow issues.

Dialing in the Protein Skimmer

Once the break-in period has passed, you can tune the skimmer to your aquarium by lowering or raising the skimmer cup from the skimmer body and/or increasing the power to the pump. Allow the skimmer to acclimate to the new setting for 24 hours before making further adjustments. The lower the cup is to the skimmer body, the wetter the collection will become. Excess air exiting the output of the skimmer is normal and will dissipate as the skimmer breaks in.
