Klir
Klir by CoralVue provides automatic fleece filters that replace filter socks. They automatically advance 50-micron fleece when dirty, maintaining clear water with less maintenance.
Klir Automatic Fleece Filter Replacement Vent Tube Set (SKU: CV-KLIR-VNT-TB)
The Klir Automatic Fleece Filter Replacement Vent Tube Set (SKU: CV-KLIR-VNT-TB) is an authentic functional OEM accessory distributed by CoralVue to ensure quiet sump operations, prevent air locks, and safeguard sensor precision. Drop-in automatic roller filters serve as an advanced mechanical replacement for traditional cloth socks, continuously winding a 50-micron fleece roll to pull out fish waste and uneaten food before it can break down into nitrates and phosphates. Because water enters the core of the drop-in unit through high-velocity plumbing lines or overflow pipes, large quantities of atmospheric air are forced deep into the filter's submerged chamber. Without a dedicated exit track, this air will build up inside the frame plates, creating a pressurized pocket that blocks incoming water, backs up the overflow lines, and causes loud splashing or gurgling noises. This flexible vent tube provides a simple, direct path for air to escape smoothly.
Molded from a saltwater-safe, high-clarity flexible polymer, the CV-KLIR-VNT-TB fits perfectly onto the integrated ventilation barbs built into the Klir Core Chassis. These tubes guide air bubbles straight up through the sump water line, keeping them away from the smart optical sensors. If your system runs without these vent paths, or if old tubes become blocked with thick calcium deposits or salt creep, air will bubble out violently beneath the roller. This splashing can trip your optical eyes, triggering false motor advances that prematurely exhaust a fresh roll of fleece. Swapping out old, rigid, or clouded lines for this fresh factory set keeps your mechanical filtration working quietly and reliably.
Key Features
Eliminates Annoying Sump Gurgling: Allows air to bleed out smoothly above the water line, turning harsh draining noises into a whisper-quiet trickle.
Tool-Free Slip-Fit Seating: Slips directly over the molded acrylic frame barbs by hand, eliminating the need for glue, zip-ties, or plastic clamps.
High-Clarity Diagnostics: The clear material lets you easily check for hidden organic slime build-up or calcified salt creep at a glance.
(Note: This retail box includes (1) standalone replacement flexible vent tube assembly. Drop-in filter roller frames, replacement fleece rolls, swappable sump collars, and 12V DC motor blocks are sold under separate product categories).

- Unplug your automatic fleece roller filter's electronic controller from the wall outlet to prevent any accidental motor cycles during maintenance.
- Carefully lift the entire Klir roller unit straight up out of your sump's 4-inch or 7-inch filter sock tray and lay it down on a dry towel.
- Locate the old, clouded, or hardened vent tubes attached to the rigid barbs on the side of the internal acrylic frame plates.
- Grip the base of the worn tubing firmly and slide it off the barb. Pro Tip: If the tube has hardened from years of salt exposure, use a hair dryer to gently warm the plastic for 10 seconds to make it flexible enough to pull off easily.
- Take your fresh CV-KLIR-VNT-TB clear vent tube and press the open end straight onto the frame barb, pushing it down until it sits flush against the plate.
- Verify that the tube points straight up away from the optical level sensors. Lower your roller back into the sump tray socket and plug the power supply back into your GFCI wall outlet.
Pro Tips:
- Orient the Vent Opening Away From Your Smart Optical Level Sensors. When pushing your fresh CV-KLIR-VNT-TB line onto the frame barb, always make sure the open top of the tube faces away from your magnetic optical water level sensors. If the tube vents straight at the sensor eyes, surging air bubbles can spray droplets onto the optical lens. This moisture build-up can trick the controller into thinking your sump is overflowing, triggering endless false motor advances that can ruin a fresh roll of fleece within hours.
- Soak Hardened or Clogged Vent Tubes in Warm Vinegar to Clear Salt Blocks. Because these tubes handle a continuous stream of escaping air and sump water spray, salt creep and calcium scale will naturally build up inside the line over time. During your semi-annual filter deep clean, remove the vent lines and soak them in a cup of warm, household white vinegar for 15 to 30 minutes. This breaks up hard mineral crusts that block the airflow, keeping your lines clear and whisper-quiet without forcing you to buy replacement parts prematurely.
- Never Clamp or Pinch the Vent Lines to Stop Water Splashes. If you notice small amounts of water mist sputtering out of the vent lines during heavy tank drainage, never pinch, fold, or zip-tie the tubes shut to stop the spray. Capping the line completely seals the exhaust, trapping air in the lower core and creating an air lock. This air lock will back up your display tank's overflow drain, sending raw water crashing over your sump's emergency bypass walls and completely disrupting your mechanical filtration cycle.
