IceCap Nano-1500 Controllable Flow Pump — 400 GPH

The IceCap Nano-1500 Controllable Flow Pump (SKU: IC-PROP-N1500) is an authentic, small-format aquarium circulation powerhead distributed by CoralVue to offer precise, adjustable hydrodynamics for smaller nano reef aquariums, desktop setups, and small freshwater aquascapes. Maintaining consistent, gentle water flow is critical to preventing stagnant areas where uneaten fish food, fish waste, and organic detritus accumulate and spoil water quality. However, standard oversized powerheads frequently take over the visual landscape of compact displays or produce harsh, high-velocity jets that stress delicate tank inhabitants. The IceCap Nano-1500 solves this layout issue, packing a controllable 400 GPH current directly into a low-profile body that easily hides behind rock structures.

Equipped with an integrated 360-Degree Directional Ball Joint Base, the Nano-1500 lets you easily direct water pathways. Whether you want to ripple the surface for oxygen exchange, push water across a low sandbed, or bounce currents off a glass panel to create a broad gyre effect, you can adjust the angle manually without unmounting the pump. The system also features a dedicated, inline multi-speed electronic speed controller. This standalone clip module lets you step down the volumetric velocity to perfectly accommodate lower-flow corals like mushrooms and LPS, or step it up to challenge high-energy schooling fish. Anchored by a strong magnetic outer backing plate, it avoids the typical sliding issues associated with aging rubber suction cups.

Key Features

  • Prevents Localized Coral Tissue Stripping: Utilizes an open-shroud propeller design to distribute water in a broad cone pattern, reducing harsh pressure hot spots.

  • Freshwater and Marine Optimized: Built with completely non-corrosive internal components, ensuring long-term structural endurance in high-salinity marine environments or high-acid blackwater tanks.

  • Whisper-Quiet Low Decibel Running: Operates on an insulated low-voltage DC motor core that eliminates vibration buzz against the glass pane.

Note: This retail box arrives ready for use with (1) Nano-1500 400 GPH pump head, (1) internal magnetic alignment pad, (1) external dry-side clamping magnet, (1) inline digital flow speed controller, and (1) low-voltage DC power adapter matrix.

WARRANTY

CoralVue, Inc. hereby guarantees this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:

  • One (1) year warranty on the device body/housing
  • One (1) year warranty on dosing pump motor (not dosing head(s))
  • Tubing, head rollers, and head bushings are considered wearable parts because they experience regular friction, pressure, and use over time, leading to natural degradation. Since these components are expected to wear out during normal operation, they are not covered under the limited warranty.

Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.

This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:

  • To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
  • To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse, or abuse.
  • To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
  • That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of the owner's or his agent's first knowledge of the defect.
  • That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given the first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements, or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
  • Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary, or consequential damages of any nature, however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.

Instructions:

  1. Unbox all components. Inspect the small propeller pump head to ensure the impeller blades spin freely, and check that the cord casing is free of kinks.
  2. Select an unobstructed area along your aquarium wall to place the pump, positioning it roughly 3 to 4 inches below your waterline to maximize horizontal cross-circulation.
  3. Submerge the pump head assembly inside the tank and hold it flush against the interior glass panel face.
  4. Slide, Do Not Snap: Place the external dry-side backing magnet block onto the exterior glass several inches away from the internal pump. Slowly slide the external magnet across the pane until it couples vertically with the inner pad. Warning: High-strength magnets can crush skin or scratch glass if allowed to snap directly together on the panel.
  5. Swivel the pump body manually along its ball joint connection to direct the nozzle toward your targeted flow paths (such as toward the upper surface or across your aquascape's rear rock column).
  6. Connect the power adapter cord, plug the system into a standard GFCI-protected wall outlet, and use the inline speed controller button to toggle up or down to find your ideal turnover rate.

Pro Tips:

  • Angle the Nozzle Slightly Upward to Prevent Nuisance Surface Scum Layers. In compact nano environments that lack a large surface-skimming overflow box, organic proteins and oils from fish food can quickly form a dull, glossy scum layer right at the water-to-air interface. This film reduces critical ambient gas exchange. Angle the adjustable nozzle of your IC-PROP-N1500 up toward the surface at a 15-degree tilt. Creating a gentle ripple across the surface continuously breaks up oil chains, ensuring optimal oxygenation throughout your system.
  • Pull and Rinse the Shroud Cage Monthly to Safely Protect Small Inhabitants. Because nano pumps feature a highly compact intake shroud frame with narrow slit grids, they can collect floating plant matter, macroalgae fragments, or loose hair algae quickly. If these slits become clogged, the internal motor faces resistance, reducing its life expectancy and flow output. During your monthly maintenance, simply pull the pump head to the surface and run a soft brush over the intake grids to keep flow pathways clear and safe for delicate snails or grazing fish.
  • Position the Pump Away from Fine Substrates to Prevent Sand Storms. With a 400 GPH velocity profile packed into a narrow, targeted propeller nozzle pattern, this pump pushes a potent current for its size. Avoid pointing the nozzle straight down toward fine oolitic aragonite sand or loose freshwater soils. Doing so will create a localized "sand storm," carving out ugly holes in your substrate line and dusting delicate coral polyps with abrasive grit. Aim the flow line across the mid-water column or against open rockwork faces to scatter the energy safely.
