IceCap Reverse Osmosis Booster Pump Kit
The IceCap Reverse Osmosis Booster Pump Kit (SKU: IC-ROBPK) is an authentic, performance-maximizing filtration accessory distributed by CoralVue to optimize pure water production for demanding saltwater reef displays and freshwater aquascapes. Thin-film composite (TFC) reverse osmosis membranes rely fundamentally on physical water pressure to force pure molecules through micro-pores while pushing dissolved solids out the waste line. When residential tap lines deliver sub-optimal pressure (frequently dipping below 40 PSI due to well water setups or high-altitude piping), the RO system stalls. This results in slow water production, excess waste water, and high total dissolved solids (TDS) leaching into your final deionization filter. The IceCap IC-ROBPK resolves these issues by artificially boosting local pressure up to ideal operational thresholds.
At the core of this all-in-one kit is a heavy-duty, whisper-quiet 24V Performance Booster Motor managed by an automated dual-switch safety network. The system features a built-in Low-Pressure Switch that monitors supply lines coming from your sediment filters, ensuring the pump safely turns off if your tap water source is disconnected. On the opposite side of the filtration arc, an integrated High-Pressure Switch monitors the output line. When your reservoir tank fills and triggers a float valve, the high-pressure switch immediately senses the line restriction and kills power to the pump to prevent leaks or line bursts. Compatible with IceCap models (IC-RI75, IC-RI100, IC-RI150, IC-RI200) and standard 1/4-inch push-fit lines, this enhancement kit turns any standard water filter into a high-speed production system.
Key Features
Accelerates Water Production Speeds: Yields pure RO/DI water in a fraction of the time, keeping your emergency reservoir tanks full and ready.
Reduces Long-Term DI Resin Operating Costs: Higher operational pressure allows the RO membrane to remove a larger percentage of contaminants, sparing your DI resin from premature exhaustion.
Low Vibration Sine Drive Assembly: Insulated motor feet absorb mechanical vibrations, preventing annoying humming or rattling against wall brackets.

Instructions:
- Unbox the booster kit. Shut off your main cold-water supply valve leading to the RO/DI system and bleed any remaining water pressure by opening your product output line.
- Mounting the Pump: Mount the booster pump to a secure vertical wall or backboard close to your RO/DI filtration rack using hardware screws (not supplied). Pro Tip: Mounting the pump vertically helps prevent trapped air bubbles inside the internal chamber.
- Plumbing the Low-Pressure Switch: Locate the water line running out of your carbon blocks (the stage right before the RO membrane input). Cut this line cleanly with a razor and insert the automated Low-Pressure Switch inline. Route a new piece of 1/4" tubing from the low-pressure switch directly into the Intake port (indicated by an arrow) on the booster pump.
- Connecting the Pump Output: Connect a piece of 1/4" tubing to the Output port of the booster pump, and route the other end into the intake port of your RO membrane housing (or the input side of your auto shut-off valve, if equipped).
- Plumbing the High-Pressure Switch: Splice the High-Pressure Switch into your clean product water line, positioned after your RO membrane and automatic shut-off block. It is typically installed right before or after the final stage Deionization (DI) canister.
- Connect the wiring leads from the high and low-pressure switches into the matching sockets on the power harness. Plug the 24V power supply into a standard GFCI outlet, turn on your source tap water, and check all quick-connect fittings for leaks.
Pro Tips:
- Always Flush Your New Carbon Blocks Before Sending Water Through the Pump. When installing fresh carbon block pre-filters, they naturally release a brief cloud of fine carbon dust and loose particles during the first few minutes of operation. If you route this initial dust cloud through your new booster pump, the fine particles can score the internal diaphragm valves, reducing pressure output and shortening the pump's lifespan. Always disconnect the line before the pump and flush new filters into a bucket for 10 minutes before routing water through the IC-ROBPK motor.
- Keep an Eye on Pre-Filter Clogging to Avoid Starving the Pump. The IC-ROBPK booster pump is designed to pull water that has already passed through your sediment and carbon pre-filters. If you notice your boosted pressure gauge slowly dropping over a few months, it usually isn't a pump issue—it's a sign that your pre-filters are clogged and restricting water flow. Replace your sediment pre-filter every 3 to 6 months to ensure the pump receives adequate supply pressure and operates smoothly.
- Use a Clean Electronic Razor Blade Cutter for All Tubing Connections. When splicing the high and low-pressure switches into your existing RO/DI line, never use household scissors or pliers to cut the polyethylene tubing. Scissors can squash the tubing into an oval shape and leave jagged edges, which prevents the inner O-rings of the quick-connect fittings from sealing correctly and leads to slow, annoying drips. Use a dedicated plastic tubing cutter or a fresh razor blade to make a perfectly clean, square 90-degree cut every time.
