Automatic Skimmer Neck Cleaner for 250-Size Reef Octopus Protein Skimmers
The Reef Octopus Octopus Cleaner 250 (OCT-CL250) is a motorized automatic neck cleaner lid designed for 250-size Reef Octopus protein skimmers. It replaces the stock collection cup lid with a self-contained unit that periodically wipes the inside of the skimmer neck using twin squeegee blades, preventing the organic buildup that restricts skimmate from reaching the collection cup.
Buildup on the neck wall causes foam to cling to the sides rather than rising into the cup. The OCT-CL250 eliminates the need for daily manual neck cleaning by automating the process on a timer or controller schedule. Running the unit 4-6 times per day for a few minutes per session keeps the neck clear consistently and maintains steady skimmate production without interruption. When properly scheduled, cleaning intervals can extend to two weeks or more between manual cleanings while maintaining full skimmer output.
The unit mounts directly onto the skimmer without modification to the stock lid. A high-torque, low-RPM motor drives the wiper mount and squeegees inside the lid housing. Mounting clamps secure the lid to the skimmer neck. The entire assembly adds approximately 4.75in to the overall height of the skimmer — confirm clearance in your sump cabinet before ordering.
A timer or aquarium controller is required to operate the OCT-CL250 and is not included. This unit is not ozone-safe and must not be used with ozone-equipped skimmer systems.

- Do not use with ozone. The OCT-CL250 is explicitly not ozone-safe. If your skimmer system uses ozone injection, this accessory is not compatible and should not be installed.

- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
Instructions:
- Confirm your skimmer model is on the OCT-CL250 compatibility list before installation.
- Measure the available height in your sump cabinet. The OCT-CL250 adds approximately 4.75in to the top of the skimmer — confirm clearance before proceeding.
- Remove the existing collection cup lid from your skimmer neck.
- Position the OCT-CL250 lid on the skimmer neck and secure it using the included mounting clamps. The ANC is built into the lid — no modification to the original lid is required.
- Connect the power cable from the OCT-CL250 to a timer or aquarium controller outlet. Do not plug directly into an always-on outlet for continuous operation.
- Set the timer or controller to run the unit 4-6 times per day for a few minutes per session.
- Confirm the squeegee blades are seated correctly inside the neck before the first scheduled cycle.
- Power on the timer or controller. The motor will activate on the set schedule and wipe the neck interior automatically.
- Monitor skimmate production over the first few days to confirm the unit is running on schedule and the neck is staying clear between cycles.
