The SRO series is defined by the Bubble Blaster pump, widely considered one of the most reliable and efficient pinwheel motors in the industry. Unlike standard pumps, the Bubble Blaster features a digital control circuit that monitors the motor's status and a silicon carbide shaft for extreme wear resistance. The skimmer body is constructed from high-grade cast acrylic and features a turbulence-reducing bubble plate and an oversized air silencer. CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Ensure the Bubble Blaster HY-5000S pump is securely mounted inside the body and the venturi is connected.
- Place the skimmer in your sump, aiming for a water depth of approximately 8.5 inches.
- Open the output gate valve completely before powering on the pump.
- Plug the HY-5000S pump into a GFCI-protected outlet.
- Gradually close the gate valve until the foam line reaches the base of the collection cup neck.
- Allow for a 2–3 week break-in period for the oversized acrylic body to stabilize.
- Check the air silencer periodically to ensure the intake remains free of dust or salt spray.
Pro Tips:
- Metric Plumbing Standards. The SRO 5000-SSS utilizes a 50mm Metric output. If you are hard-plumbing your drain, make sure to use a 50mm Metric Union or Coupling to maintain compatibility with the factory hardware.
- Maintaining the Internal Pump. Because the pump is housed inside the body, keep an eye on the intake for stray snails or debris. We recommend a full teardown and vinegar soak of the Bubble Blaster pump every 6 months to maintain its silent operation and peak air-draw.
- Water Level Stability. Like all in-sump skimmers, the SRO 5000-SSS performs best when the water level in the sump is constant. We highly recommend using an Auto Top Off (ATO) system to ensure the skimmer remains at its optimal 8.5-inch depth for consistent performance.
