Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 2 Replacement Motor Block (ROP-OP2-MTR)
The Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 2 Replacement Motor Block (SKU: ROP-OP2-MTR) is a genuine factory-direct OEM core assembly distributed by CoralVue to restore powerful water flow patterns within your marine habitat. In a closed-loop marine aquarium, the primary wavemaker motor block functions under constant mechanical duty cycles. Over years of submersion, electronic stators can degrade due to electrical power grid spikes, or suffer internal copper coil failure if the impeller is left stuck by large debris or crawling snails. Instead of purchasing an entirely new retail wave pump bundle with unnecessary extra brackets and wires, swapping out the standalone motor block allows you to preserve your current controller grid while restoring full flow capabilities.
This replacement block features a heavy-duty, epoxy-encapsulated motor core that functions on a low-voltage 24V DC circuit. The housing is constructed from impact-resistant, non-leaching marine polymers and features a specialized convex rear end. This rounded back sits within the native concave magnetic base assembly, providing an articulating joint that allows you to tilt the motor across a 25-degree range of motion and rotate it a full 360 degrees to target dead zones in your rockwork. Engineered for seamless integration with high-end automated control grids, the integrated power cord features a waterproof screw-collar connector to keep your internal connections safe and dry.
Key Features
Genuine Direct Drop-In: Sized exactly to factory specifications to accommodate your original Octo Pulse 2 impeller and flow cage components.
True 360-Degree Aiming: The gyration-ready rear shell fits perfectly into your original stock mounting cradle, enabling precise directional control.
Whisper-Quiet Stator Core: Features advanced electronic commutation paths that eliminate low-frequency humming sounds while maintaining high volume tracking.
Broad Flow Efficiency: Calibrated to drive the impeller up to 1,600 GPH while pulling only 5 to 10 watts of total electricity.
Robust Factory Housing Warranty: Backed by the official CoralVue service framework, guaranteeing the structural integrity of your core equipment.
Verified Hardware Compatibility
Reef Octopus Wavemaker Series: Octo Pulse 2 (OP-2) and Octo Pulse 2+ systems.
Note: This core block is sized explicitly for the OP-2 footprint. If you operate the larger high-output model, you must use partner part number ROP-OP4-MTR to fit your larger system accessories.

This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.

- Disconnect the main power supply from your controller interface to completely de-energize the wavemaker circuit.
- Reach into the tank, detach the wet-side pump from the dry-side glass magnet, and move the pump head over to a clean workspace.
- Unsnap your original front flow cage and slide your active impeller assembly straight out of the old motor cavity.
- Unscrew the waterproof collar at the end of the motor block's cord line to separate it from your controller port or extension lead.
- Take your existing impeller and slide it down into the clean center well of your new ROP-OP2-MTR motor block until the magnet seats securely.
- Snap your front flow cage back onto the rim, route the power wire back to your cabinet grid, screw the locking connection collar together hand-tight, and restart your system.
Pro Tips:
- Never Run the Motor Block Dry. This variable-speed DC motor block uses surrounding aquarium water to cool its internal components during operation. Never plug the motor into a controller or power brick while testing it on a dry counter top. Running the stator without water tracking around the internal well creates friction heat that can warp the inner sleeve and ruin the motor block. Always submerge the pump completely before powering it up.
- Clean the Inner Cavity Thoroughly Before Installing Your Impeller. When moving your current impeller over to this new replacement motor block, take a moment to look at the magnet cylinder. Wipe it down with a soft cloth to make sure no fine sand grains, loose shell bits, or calcium flakes are stuck to it. Shifting debris into a brand new motor well can score the polymer walls, creating micro-grooves that decrease flow rates and cause loud clicking noises.
- Keep an Eye on the Rear Bushing Alignment. Inside the rear center point of the new motor well sits a tiny, specialized rubber bushing that cushions the back tip of your impeller's ceramic shaft. When cleaning your old pump or getting your new setup ready, verify that this rear cushion pad is centered and flush in its seat. If the bushing is misaligned or missing, the shaft will wobble under load, causing loud vibrations and uneven wear on your new motor.
