Reef Octopus KS100 Nilson Kalk Reactor
The Reef Octopus KS100 Nilson Kalk Reactor is a highly efficient solution for automating the delivery of calcium and alkalinity in smaller reef environments. This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Place the KS100 in a stable, upright position near your sump.
- Connect your RO/DI feed line to the inlet and the dosing line to the outlet using 1/4" tubing.
- Remove the lid and add the appropriate amount of calcium hydroxide powder to the bottom of the reactor.
- Fill the reactor with RO/DI water and replace the lid, tightening the thumb screws securely.
- Connect your feed pump (sold separately) to the reactor inlet.
- Plug the stirrer motor into a timer or aquarium controller; do not run the motor 24/7.
- Configure your timer to run the motor for 5 minutes every 2 hours to keep the solution saturated.
Pro Tips
Never run the stirrer motor continuously. The motor is designed for intermittent use and has an approximate lifespan of 1,500 hours. Running it for 5 minutes every 2 hours ensures your Kalkwasser stays saturated while significantly extending the life of the motor.
Ensure the reactor outlet is positioned above the water line. To prevent back-siphoning and ensure proper dosing, always have the outlet tube dripping into a high-flow area of the sump above the water level.
Use a dedicated feed pump for the most consistent results. Connecting the KS100 to a slow-volume peristaltic pump or a dedicated ATO system allows for precise control over how much Kalkwasser is added to the tank, preventing sudden pH spikes.
