    • Genuine OEM Direct Replacement: Authentic factory-spec electronic water-level safety cutoff sensor configured specifically for Reef Octopus VarioS and VarioS+ controllable return circulation pumps.
    • Extended 25-Foot Line Jacket: Heavy-duty, continuous 25ft control wire eliminates the need for risky, unsealed DIY signal line extensions in high-moisture equipment bays.
    • Dedicated Water Pump Firmware Configuration: Wired in a native configuration that tells the 24V/36V return pump driver to instantly alter operation profiles when water boundaries are breached.
    • Saltwater-Inert Polypropylene Core: Sealed magnetic reed-switch rod and buoyant collar array completely resist salt crusting, biological slime tracking, and mineral scaling.
    • Toolless Plug-and-Play Integration: Features a low-voltage plug connector that inserts directly into the side accessory jack terminal of any standalone or WiFi-enabled VarioS return driver.
    • Stops Dry-Running and Overflow Disasters: Provides an automated electronic barrier that cuts pump energy lines during critical low-sump or high-display water thresholds.

Reef Octopus VarioS Extended 25ft Return Water Pump Controller Float Switch (ROP-VAR-FSW25)

The Reef Octopus VarioS Extended 25ft Return Water Pump Float Switch (SKU: ROP-VAR-FSW25) is an authentic original factory safety sensor distributed by CoralVue to provide long-range physical water level monitoring and electronic shutdown capabilities to your primary circulation loop. Standard out-of-the-box controllable DC return pump setups include a short 6.7-foot cord, which frequently falls short in complex aquarium layouts. If your central variable-speed driver block is mounted to a dry master command board, routed inside an adjacent equipment cabinet, or integrated into a remote basement filtration network, standard cables cannot bridge the gap. This custom 25-foot continuous cord lets you safely cross these physical boundaries without relying on spliced wires or unshielded extensions that can cause signal cross-talk or voltage drops.

Mechanically, the ROP-VARIOS-FSW25 is optimized strictly for the volatile conditions found inside filter sumps, auto top-off reservoirs, and high-flow overflow chambers. Utilizing a highly buoyant, non-reactive polypropylene ring tracking over a fully enclosed magnetic reed core, the switch reads subtle physical water line movements instantly. The moment your water line falls below safe operating depths—or rises past critical overflow points, depending on your chosen mounting orientation—the moving collar prompts the VarioS controller to kill the pump's power within milliseconds. This rapid safeguard layout protects the internal ceramic shaft from dry-running heat friction and prevents costly display room flooring floods.

    Key Features

    • Continuous Heavy-Insulated Shielding: Thick rubberized wire jacket protects the inner signal lines from salt spray deterioration, pinching wear, and moisture wicking.

    • Direct Software Override Pass: Communicates natively with your pump's onboard logic board, immediately triggering an error state and an illuminated warning light on your control module.

    • Reversible Sensor Switching Direction: The internal float ring can be slid off the main shaft and flipped 180 degrees, allowing you to easily configure the unit as a low-water pump cutoff or a high-water display tank overflow cutoff.

    • (Note: This replacement accessory includes the single 25-foot water float switch loop only. Physical acrylic mounting brackets, suction cup mounts, and main pump controllers are sold separately).

    Verified Hardware Compatibility

    • Reef Octopus Return Driver Infrastructure: Designed natively to plug into all standard small, medium, and large-frame return pump drivers, including the VarioS-2, VarioS-4, VarioS-6, and VarioS-8 control panels.

    • Modern WiFi+ Series Smart Systems: Fully certified to integrate with cloud-managed VarioS 2+, VarioS 4+, VarioS 6+, and VarioS 8+ controllers, automatically enabling smartphone app warning updates when triggered.

    • (Note: This is an "FSW" designated sensor, which features a wiring pattern optimized for water circulation networks. For fractionating waste containment inside collection cups, look for the alternative "FSS" skimmer line under SKU: ROP-VAR-FSS25).

    1. Disconnect your primary VarioS power supply transformer block from the wall socket to completely eliminate live electricity before handling your controller cables.
    2. Thread the 25-foot line from your dry controller mounting spot down through your cabinetry, ensuring the wire does not wrap around high-heat lighting fixtures or pinch in stand hinges.
    3. Secure the sensor end inside your return sump pump chamber or upper aquarium rim using an acrylic magnetic holder or mounting bracket clip.
    4. Adjust the retaining lock-nuts along the switch neck so that the moving float ring sits at your critical low-water limit (just above the pump's intake volute nose) or your maximum display overflow line.
    5. Take the low-voltage plug jack at the end of the 25ft line and push it straight into the matching float switch port on the bottom or side of your VarioS controller block.
    6. Plug the main power supply back into the wall outlet, press the physical "FS" button on your controller faceplate to activate active monitoring, and confirm that the green indicator light stays lit.

    Pro Tips:

    • Clean the Float Ring with Citric Acid During Seasonal Sump Maintenance. Because this sensor lives directly inside open filtration sumps or return bays, it is continuously exposed to raw evaporation dynamics, calcifying mineral scale, and wandering detritus slime. Over time, these minerals can bake onto the vertical track rod, forming a rough crust that can trap the floating ring and cause it to stick. To keep the failsafe working perfectly, make it a habit to quickly drop the sensor into a warm citric acid bath and slide the ring up and down by hand during your quarterly filtration cleanings.
    • Never Wrap Extra Cord Next to AC Power Cables. With 25 feet of signal wire to route, you will often end up with excess cord coiled up underneath your stand. When bundling this extra line together, use plastic zip-ties to secure it well away from heavy high-voltage AC cables, such as your main aquarium heater lines or return pump power cords. Running unshielded, low-voltage DC data lines parallel to heavy AC power loops can introduce electromagnetic interference (EMI), which can trigger annoying false dry-run alarms and stop your return flow randomly.
    • Test the Cutoff Switch Manually at Least Once a Month. Never wait for an actual plumbing drain failure or an empty top-off reservoir to find out if your safety switch is functioning correctly. Once a month, with the VarioS pump running normally at its baseline speed, slide the small float ring manually to its triggered position with a clean finger. If your 25-foot line is hooked up right and the controller's safety mode is active, the pump will stop spinning instantly. If it doesn't shut down right away, double-check your connection jack and make sure the "FS" toggle indicator on the touchpad is switched on.
