    • Genuine OEM Direct Replacement: Authentic factory-spec internal rubber rear bushing designed specifically to anchor the impeller shaft of your Octo Pulse 2 wavemaker.
    • Acoustic Shock Absorption Core: Formulated to suppress micro-vibrations generated by high-velocity rotation, keeping your DC pump whisper-quiet.
    • Eliminates Impeller Wobble: Restores precise axial tracking for the ceramic shaft, preventing uneven friction wear on the magnetic rotor capsule.
    • Saltwater Inert Elastomer: Molded from premium, high-density rubber composite that resists expansion, swelling, and chemical degradation in marine aquariums.
    • Snug Friction-Fit Seating: Engineered to drop cleanly into the deepest recess of the motor stator well for absolute structural centering.
    • Essential Maintenance Component: Restores smooth spin-up cycles and solves common motor stall errors caused by lost or worn-out stock dampeners.

Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 2 Replacement Rear Pump Bushing (ROP-RR-BSHNG-OP2)

The Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 2 Rear Pump Bushing (SKU: ROP-RR-BSHNG-OP2) is an authentic factory-spec replacement rubber stabilization boot distributed by CoralVue to maintain flawless internal operating tolerances within your circulation pump. While small in stature, the rear bushing plays a massive role in the overall lifespan and noise levels of your wavemaker setup. Sitting at the absolute base of the internal motor well, this rubber cap acts as the structural seat that cushions the rear tip of the impeller's ceramic shaft. Over months of non-stop tidal simulation, this dampener can become brittle due to localized calcification, suffer friction degradation, or easily flush down the drain accidentally during routine vinegar maintenance bath routines.

Replacing a compromised or missing rear bushing with this genuine replacement component is vital to keeping your aquarium system running smoothly. Operating an Octo Pulse 2 without an intact, perfectly seated rear rubber boot forces the ceramic shaft to rattle loosely inside the motor stator housing under load. This instability causes loud chattering noises and uneven magnetic tracking that can score the motor walls or break the ceramic shaft entirely. This premium composite bushing absorbs mechanical vibration, realigns the rotational axis of your propeller, and restores silent operational efficiency.

    Key Features

    • True Factory Tolerance: Sized strictly for the specific diameter thresholds of the Octo Pulse 2 motor well to ensure a wiggle-free fit.

    • Vibration Suppression Isolation: Dampens operational noise before it tracks through the pump housing and resonates into your aquarium viewing glass.

    • Reef-Safe Formulation: Crafted from non-leaching, chemically inert synthetic rubber that will not alter closed-loop reef parameters.

    • Friction Optimization: Keeps the high-torque rare-earth magnetic rotor perfectly suspended to reduce heat buildup and avoid rotational timing errors.

    Verified Hardware Compatibility

    • Reef Octopus Wavemaker Series: Octo Pulse 2 (OP-2) and Octo Pulse 2+ internal motor stator wells.

    • (Note: This bushing is sized exclusively for the standard Octo Pulse 2 platform. If you run the larger Octo Pulse 4 system, it requires distinct part number ROP-RR-BSHNG to align with its larger housing footprint).

    What’s Included:

    • (1) Reef Octopus Replacement Octo Pulse 2 Rear Rubber Pump Bushing

    • (Note: Internal wet-side motor blocks, ceramic shafts, magnetic impellers, front flow cages, and controllers are sold separately).

    Technical Specs:

    • Official Manufacturing Title: Reef Octopus Pump Rear Bushing (OctoPulse 2 Variant)

    • SKU / Factory Part Identifier: ROP-RR-BSHNG-OP2

    • Material Composition: High-Deterioration Resistant Marine Elastomer

    1. Unplug the wavemaker controller from the main power outlet and remove the internal wet-side pump assembly from your aquarium.
    2. Twist off the front slotted flow cage and slide the magnetic impeller assembly straight out of the central motor well.
    3. Peer down into the empty motor well to confirm if the old rubber bushing is still stuck at the bottom or if it came out on the tip of the impeller shaft.
    4. If old and worn, extract the previous bushing using a pair of non-marring plastic tweezers or a wooden toothpick (avoid metal tools that can scratch the wall).
    5. Slide the new ROP-RR-BSHNG-OP2 rubber bushing onto the rear tip of your impeller shaft, or push it directly into the center locking groove at the bottom of the well.
    6. Reinsert your impeller assembly smoothly, verify that it seats with a soft springy push-back feel, slide the cage back on, and reinstall the pump.
    Pro Tips:
    • Never Use Metal Picks to Remove a Stuck Bushing. If your old rubber bushing has deteriorated or expanded and is tightly wedged inside the bottom of the motor well, do not dig it out with steel screwdrivers, drill bits, or metal dental picks. The inner walls of your DC motor are made of a precisely molded plastic composite sleeve. One deep scratch from a sharp metal tool can permanently ruin the watertight seal or create a rough edge that will wear down your magnetic impeller. Stick to plastic tools, rubber tips, or a wooden skewer.
    • A Drop of RO/DI Water Helps Seat the Bushing Flawlessly. Because these replacement bushings are molded to exact factory dimensions, pushing a dry rubber cap into a dry plastic motor well can sometimes cause the edges to bind, bunch up, or sit crookedly at the bottom. To make installation seamless, dip the new rubber bushing into a small cup of pure RO/DI water or aquarium water first. This provides just enough safe lubrication for it to slide smoothly down and seat perfectly flat into its indexing groove.
    • Always Check Your Cleaning Bucket Before Dumping. The number one reason hobbyists need to purchase replacement rear bushings is that they accidentally lose the stock one during routine deep cleanings. When you soak your Octo Pulse 2 in a vinegar or citric acid bath to dissolve calcium scale, the acid relaxes the grip of the rubber boot. When you rinse the motor block out under the tap, the tiny bushing can effortlessly slip out of the well and wash down the sink drain unnoticed too late. Always clean your pump inside a shallow white bucket so you can catch it if it falls out!
