Reef Octopus 5000/10000 Rubber Base Feet Pegs
Maintaining a silent reef aquarium setup requires isolating motor resonance before it transfers into your cabinet or sump walls. The Reef Octopus Bubble/Water Blaster 5000/10000 Pump Base Rubber Pegs (SKU: ROP-FEET-HY5000) are the official replacement silicone dampening feet engineered for mid-to-large-frame Reef Octopus pumps. Over time, exposure to saltwater, mineral deposits, and citric acid cleaning baths can cause original rubber feet to harden, lose elasticity, or tear when pulling the pump out for maintenance. When this happens, metal or hard plastic contact points touch the sump floor, generating an annoying low-frequency hum.
Molded from heavy-duty, marine-grade silicone elastomer, these specialized mushroom-style pegs feature a retention neck that snaps into the receiving socket holes of the plastic pump baseplate. Once installed, they elevate the pump slightly off the bottom, forming an acoustic buffer that decouples motor vibration from the surrounding aquarium glass or acrylic.
Cross-Series Pump Compatibility
Designed to fit standard large-frame Reef Octopus AC motor blocks, these replacement pegs work seamlessly across both the Water Blaster return pump series and the Bubble Blaster skimmer pump series.
(Note: This retail SKU contains (1) pack of (4) individual replacement silicone rubber pegs. ABS baseplates, pump motor blocks, and volutes are sold separately).

How to Replace the Baseplate Pegs:
Turn off power to the pump and remove the pump assembly from your sump.
Slide the plastic mounting baseplate off the bottom of the pump motor housing.
Pull out any remaining pieces of the old, worn, or torn rubber feet from the baseplate sockets using needle-nose pliers or a small screwdriver.
Clean the mounting holes on the baseplate to remove any accumulated salt creep, detritus, or calcium buildup.
Wet the retention neck of a new ROP-FEET-HY5000 silicone peg with fresh water or a drop of RO/DI water to act as a lubricant.
Push and twist the peg into the socket hole from the underside of the baseplate until the retaining flange pops completely through to secure it.
Repeat for all four corners, slide the baseplate back onto the pump housing, and return the pump to service.
Pro Tips:
Moisten Pegs Before Installation.
EASY INSTALLATION TIP: Never try to force dry silicone pegs into the rigid baseplate holes. Dipping the tip of each peg in fresh RO/DI water or mild soapy water makes them slide through the baseplate sockets effortlessly without tearing the silicone neck.
Inspect Pegs During Bi-Annual Cleaning. When removing your return or skimmer pump for its routine citric acid soak, check the condition of the rubber feet. If they feel stiff or cracked, replacing them immediately prevents sudden hums or chatter from developing down the road.
Keep an Extra Pack On Hand. Vibration feet are small and easy to tear or misplace during deep pump cleaning. Keeping a backup 4-pack in your aquarium service drawer ensures you can replace a lost foot instantly and avoid irritating noise issues on maintenance day.
