The Reef Octopus Essence S-130 Collection Cup is the primary reservoir for capturing concentrated organic waste from your aquarium. This genuine replacement cup features the innovative twist-lock connection that defines the Essence series, allowing you to remove and reinstall the cup with a simple, smooth motion. Unlike standard friction-fit cups that can be difficult to remove when wet, the S-130 cup ensures a secure, airtight seal every time.

It includes a built-in drain port for hobbyists who prefer to route skimmate to an external container. Please note that this is the replacement cup body only; the collection cup lid and drain plug are sold separately. - Turn off the skimmer pump.
- Remove the old collection cup by twisting it counter-clockwise.
- Clean the twist-lock track on the skimmer body to remove any salt or debris.
- Transfer your existing Essence 130 lid and drain plug to the new cup.
- Align the tabs on the new cup with the body tracks and twist clockwise to lock.
- Restart the pump and check the seal for any air or water leaks.
Pro Tips:
Lubricate the O-ring.
To ensure the twist-lock mechanism remains smooth, apply a tiny amount of aquarium-safe silicone lubricant to the O-ring on the cup base once every few months. This prevents the acrylic from seizing and makes removal easier.
Transfer your accessories. Remember to keep your original lid and drain plug! This replacement unit is the cup body only. If your original plug is lost, you will need to order a replacement separately to prevent the cup from draining into your sump.
Monitor for salt creep. If you notice salt building up around the twist-lock tracks, it can act like sandpaper and damage the acrylic. Wipe the tracks down with a damp cloth every time you empty the cup to keep the connection clean.
