    • Direct OEM KM Series Replacement: Factory-original replacement drive motor engineered specifically for IceCap KM-120, KM-150, and KM-200 Kalkwasser Mixing Reactors.
    • Non-Submerged Magnetic Drive: Mounts securely inside the external reactor base, completely isolated from caustic limewater to prevent corrosion and premature failure.
    • Variable Speed Modulation: Integrates seamlessly with the base potentiometer dial, allowing aquarists to fine-tune rotation speed from a gentle roll to continuous suspension.
    • High-Torque Quiet Operation: Delivers smooth, low-RPM torque to turn magnetic stir pills through dense calcium hydroxide slurry without stalling or vibrating.
    • Restores Automated Mixing: Directly replaces burnt-out, seized, or noisy base motors to maintain continuous kalkwasser saturation for ATO or automated dosing systems.

IceCap Kalkwasser Reactor Replacement Mixing Motor

Automating calcium hydroxide (kalkwasser) saturation in modern reef aquariums requires a dependable mechanical drive that operates without direct contact with corrosive limewater. The IceCap Kalkwasser Reactor Mixing Motor (SKU: IP-KM-MT) is the official OEM replacement drive motor engineered specifically for the entire line of IceCap KM Series Kalkwasser Mixing Reactors, including the KM-120, KM-150, and KM-200 models.

Traditional kalk stirrers rely on internal submersible powerheads that quickly seize up due to severe calcium carbonate scaling. The IceCap KM series avoids this limitation by isolating the drive motor entirely inside the dry external base station beneath the reactor vessel. The IP-KM-MT motor rotates an internal magnet assembly, which magnetically locks onto the PTFE stir bar inside the reaction vessel. Over extended periods of operation, continuous torque load from heavy kalk slurry or extended run cycles can cause electrical motor burnout, internal gear wear, or rotational drag. Installing an authentic IP-KM-MT replacement motor restores whisper-quiet operation and reliable vortex agitation.

    Ideal Replacement Scenario

If the base unit of your KM-120, KM-150, or KM-200 reactor fails to turn the magnetic stir bar, emits a grinding or humming sound without rotating, or has suffered motor burn-in from accidental continuous operation, swapping in the authentic IP-KM-MT motor restores full functionality to the mixer base.

    Installation & Replacement Guidelines:

    1. Disconnect the power adapter from the electrical outlet and unplug the DC barrel jack from the mixer base.

    2. Lift the acrylic kalk reactor vessel off the motorized base and set it aside in a safe location.

    3. Remove the base plate retaining screws on the underside of the drive enclosure to access the internal motor bracket.

    4. Carefully disconnect the wiring leads from the old motor and unscrew the motor mounting hardware.

    5. Transfer the magnetic rotor wheel to the shaft of the new IP-KM-MT motor, secure the motor to the base bracket, and reconnect the wiring harness.

    6. Reassemble the base housing, plug in the power supply, test the rotation with the speed knob, and place the reactor chamber back onto the drive base.

    Pro Tips:

    • Do Not Run the Mixer Motor Continuously. The IceCap KM motor is designed for intermittent periodic operation rather than 24/7 continuous mixing. Running the motor constantly creates motor overheating, accelerates wear, and unnecessarily clouds the effluent. Use an aquarium controller or smart outlet timer to run the motor for 5 to 10 minutes every 4 to 6 hours.
    • Allow Settlement Time Before Dosing. Program your mixing cycle so the motor stops running at least 30 to 45 minutes before your automated top-off or dosing pump activates. This settling interval allows suspended calcium hydroxide particles to settle to the bottom, ensuring only crystal-clear, fully saturated limewater is dosed into your aquarium display.
