Reef Octopus Essence S-130 Adjustment Arm Replacement
The Reef Octopus Essence S-130 Adjustment Arm is the primary control mechanism for managing the internal water height of your protein skimmer. This genuine replacement part includes the graduated adjustment dial and the internal gate mechanism required to restrict or open the water outlet. By turning this arm, you can precisely raise the foam level to achieve a "wet" skimmate or lower it for a "dry," thick waste collection.
Maintaining a smooth-moving adjustment arm is critical for the daily performance of the Essence S-130. Over time, calcium deposits or salt creep can cause the original arm to become difficult to turn or seize entirely. If the dial has snapped or the internal wedge is no longer responding to adjustments, this OEM replacement will restore the 16-step precision tuning that makes the Essence series so user-friendly.

Pro Tips:
Keep the dial moving.
To prevent calcium buildup from seizing the arm, get into the habit of turning the dial through its full 16-step range once every two weeks during your regular maintenance. This "clears the tracks" and ensures the arm remains easy to turn.
Check for O-ring lubrication. If the arm feels exceptionally stiff when new, apply a very small amount of aquarium-safe silicone lubricant to any O-rings or contact points. This will make the 16-step clicking mechanism feel smoother and prevent premature wear.
The "Halfway" starting point. When restarting your skimmer after installing a new arm, set the dial to the middle position (step 8). This provides a neutral starting point that is unlikely to cause an immediate overflow while the skimmer recalibrates.
