Without a properly fitted cover, this vigorous water turbulence creates splashing, noisy gurgling, rapid evaporation, and corrosive salt creep that can damage cabinetry and surrounding electrical gear. Installation & Replacement Guidelines:
Lift and remove any broken or old lid fragments from the top edge of the sump intake section.
Wipe down the upper rim and recessed seating ledge of the sump chamber to remove dried salt crust and debris.
Rinse the new IP-RS15-L1 acrylic lid with fresh RO water and dry with a soft microfiber towel.
Align the lid with the top recessed lip of the intake / filter sock compartment and set it into position.
Confirm that aquarium drain plumbing and cables pass freely without binding against the acrylic edges.
Pro Tips:
- Wipe Salt Creep with Microfiber Only. To preserve the optical clarity and polished finish of your replacement acrylic lid, never wipe dry salt crystals with paper towels or abrasive pads, which cause micro-scratches. Rinse the lid under warm tap water and wipe gently with a soft microfiber cloth.
- Shield Acrylic Lids from High-Heat Spotlights. If you position a refugium grow light or high-intensity LED near your sump chambers, avoid placing hot heat sinks directly against or inches above the acrylic lid.
