    • Direct OEM KM-120 Replacement: Factory-original replacement small magnetic stir bar engineered specifically for the IceCap KM-120 (5-inch) Small Kalkwasser Mixing Reactor.
    • Non-Submerged Magnetic Drive: Sits at the bottom of the reaction vessel and couples magnetically with the motorized base plate, eliminating maintenance-heavy powerheads.
    • Chemically Inert PTFE Coating: Encapsulated in heavy-duty, food-grade Teflon (PTFE) that resists caustic high-pH (12.0+) calcium hydroxide environments and mineral scale.
    • Optimized Gentle Agitation: Designed with a smooth pivot ring to rotate effortlessly, maintaining saturated limewater without churning solids into the dosing line.
    • Drop-In Replacement: Drops directly into the reactor chamber base without requiring tools, adhesives, or disassembly of the motor assembly.

IceCap Kalk Mixer Small Magnetic Stir Bar

Maintaining a saturated calcium hydroxide (Kalkwasser) solution for reef aquariums requires regular, gentle stirring without pulverizing solid precipitate or introducing excess atmospheric carbon dioxide. The IceCap Kalk Mixer Small Magnet Pill (SKU: IP-KM-MAG-S) is the official OEM replacement magnetic stir bar engineered specifically for the IceCap KM-120 Small Kalkwasser Mixing Reactor.

Instead of utilizing internal motorized pumps that seize up and suffer heavy calcification in high-alkalinity environments, the IceCap KM-120 relies on an external motorized drive located in the base. This base magnetically couples to the internal IP-KM-MAG-S stir pill, rotating it slowly along the bottom of the reaction chamber. The resulting vortex gently suspends undissolved kalk powder to ensure 100% water saturation without creating excessive surface turbulence. Over months of continuous friction against the chamber floor and abrasive calcium hydroxide slurry, stir bars can experience outer PTFE casing wear, magnetic decoupling, or loss during chamber cleaning.

    Ideal Replacement Scenario

If your KM-120 kalk stirrer is wobbling, decoupling from the magnetic drive base, rattling noisily, or if the original magnetic pill was accidentally discarded during routine reactor flushes, installing an authentic IP-KM-MAG-S restores smooth, silent magnetic coupling and optimal solution saturation.

    • (Note: Package includes (1) IceCap Small Replacement Magnetic Stir Bar Pill).

    What’s Included:

    • (1) IceCap Kalk Mixer Small Replacement Magnetic Stir Bar Pill (IP-KM-MAG-S)

    Technical Specs:

    • SKU / Factory Part Identifier: IP-KM-MAG-S

    • Core Material: High-Strength Neodymium Rare-Earth Permanent Magnet

    • Encapsulation Coating: Chemically Inert, Saltwater/Caustic-Resistant PTFE (Teflon)

    • Profile / Shape: Cylindrical Stir Bar with Center Pivot Ring

    • Color: Standard Laboratory White

    • Primary Compatibility: IceCap KM-120 Small 5-inch Kalkwasser Mixing Reactor

    Installation & Replacement Guidelines:

    1. Turn off power to the IceCap Kalk Mixer base motor and disconnect the reactor feed line.

    2. Carefully drain the liquid from the KM-120 reaction chamber and rinse out any remaining undissolved kalk sediment.

    3. Remove the old, worn, or scored stir bar from the bottom of the vessel (a magnetic retriever wand can help lift it out).

    4. Drop the new IP-KM-MAG-S magnet pill into the center of the clean reactor base, confirming it seats flat on its pivot ring.

    5. Re-add fresh calcium hydroxide powder, refill with reverse osmosis (RO) water, place the vessel back onto the motorized drive base, and reconnect power.

    Pro Tips:

    • Inspect the PTFE Coating for Abrasive Wear. Calcium hydroxide slurry acts as a mild abrasive over time. Inspect the white Teflon coating every 3 to 6 months during your routine reactor flush. If the polymer surface is visibly worn down or the internal magnetic core becomes exposed, replace it immediately to prevent metal oxidation or tank contamination.
    • Calibrate Stirrer Motor Speed to Avoid Clouding. Set the Kalk Mixer base motor speed so the IP-KM-MAG-S creates a gentle, creeping slurry roll across the bottom third of the chamber. Avoid running at excessive speeds that generate a violent vortex, which can lift cloudy particles into the upper effluent zone and dose sediment into your aquarium display.
