- Ensure the 40mm metric pipe end is cut perfectly square and thoroughly deburred.
- Perform a dry-fit to ensure the pipe seats fully into the bottom of the cap.
- Apply a layer of PVC primer to the pipe end and the internal socket of the cap.
- Apply a liberal coat of heavy-duty PVC solvent cement to both the pipe and the cap.
- Push the cap onto the pipe and give it a slight quarter-turn to distribute the glue evenly.
- Hold firmly for 45 seconds. Allow at least 4 hours of cure time before introducing high-pressure water.
Pro Tips:
- Metric vs. Standard 1.5-Inch. A 40mm metric cap will not fit 1.25" or 1.5" USA standard pipe. 40mm is approximately 1.57 inches, whereas standard US 1.5" pipe has an outer diameter of 1.90 inches. Always use a caliper to confirm your pipe's outer diameter before ordering.
