    • Create clean, sharp 90-degree turns in tight aquarium plumbing layouts.
    • Specifically sized for 20mm metric PVC pipe (approx. 0.75" OD), a standard for Reef Octopus internal plumbing.
    • High-impact, industrial-grade grey PVC construction built for permanent saltwater use.
    • Smooth internal bore reduces detritus accumulation and ensures consistent flow rates.
    • Deep socket "slip" connections provide a secure, leak-proof bond via solvent welding.
    • Ideal For: Skimmer repair; reactor manifolds; metric return line routing in confined spaces.

    20mm Metric 90° Elbow Fitting

The 20mm Metric 90° Elbow is a professional-grade plumbing component designed for precision water routing in marine and freshwater systems. This fitting is sized specifically for 20mm Metric PVC pipe, the standard diameter utilized for the internal plumbing and air/water mixing assemblies on many Reef Octopus protein skimmers, calcium reactors, and European-spec filtration equipment.

When space is at a premium—such as inside a skimmer body or within a compact sump cabinet—this 90-degree elbow provides a clean, sharp direction change without the bulk of oversized fittings. Constructed from high-impact, saltwater-safe grey PVC, this elbow is engineered to withstand the continuous vibration of aquarium pumps. The smooth internal finish helps prevent the buildup of calcium and organic debris, ensuring your life support systems maintain peak performance over time.

    Key Features

    • True Metric Calibration: Fits 20mm OD metric pipe—perfect for maintaining and repairing Reef Octopus and Maxspect hardware.

    • Compact Geometry: Allows for tight plumbing turns in restricted spaces like sumps and reactor chambers.

    • Industrial Durability: Heavy-walled PVC construction resists cracking and degradation in high-humidity environments.

    • Corrosion Proof: 100% non-metallic and saltwater safe; will not leach harmful chemicals into your reef.

    • Deep Socket Design: Slip x Slip configuration ensures a permanent, high-strength solvent weld.

    Ideal For

    • Reef Octopus Skimmer Repair: Replacing or custom-modifying internal venturi and discharge plumbing.

    • Compact Manifolds: Building professional-looking plumbing for dosing lines and small reactor feeds.

    • Metric-to-Metric Connections: Essential for users of specialized European or Asian-manufactured aquarium gear.

    What’s Included:

    • (1) 20mm Metric 90° Elbow Fitting

    Specifications:

    • Size: 20mm

    • Angle: 90 Degrees

    • Connection Type: Slip x Slip (Socket)

    • Material: High-grade Grey PVC

    • Compatibility: 20mm Metric Pipe ONLY

    • Ensure your 20mm metric pipe is cut perfectly square and any burrs are removed from the edges.
    • Dry-fit the pipe into the elbow to verify your alignment before applying any adhesive.
    • Apply a thin layer of PVC primer to the pipe end and the internal socket of the elbow.
    • Apply a thin, even coat of PVC solvent cement to both the pipe and the fitting socket.
    • Insert the pipe into the elbow with a quick quarter-turn to distribute the glue.
    • Hold the joint together for 20 seconds. Allow to cure for at least 1 hour before introducing water flow.

    Pro Tips

Metric vs. Standard. A 20mm metric fitting will not fit 1/2" or 3/4" USA standard pipe. 20mm is roughly 0.78 inches, making it just slightly larger than the actual outer diameter of 1/2" pipe. Always use a caliper to confirm your pipe size before ordering to ensure compatibility.

Clean Aesthetics. Because these are high-end grey fittings, we recommend using a clear PVC primer rather than the purple variety. This maintains a clean, professional "factory" appearance for your plumbing without the messy stains associated with standard household plumbing.

When to use a 90. While 45-degree elbows are better for flow efficiency, a 90-degree elbow is often necessary for "drop-in" returns or when plumbing around a tight corner in a cabinet. If you are using this on a high-flow return line, ensure your pump has enough head-pressure capacity to handle the slight resistance of the sharp turn.
