Reef Octopus CL250 Automatic Neck Cleaner
The Reef Octopus CL250 Automatic Neck Cleaner (ANC) is a heavy-duty maintenance upgrade designed for large-scale protein skimmers with 10-inch neck diameters. In high-capacity filtration systems, a thick layer of organic waste quickly coats the internal neck, creating surface tension that causes bubbles to burst prematurely. The CL250 eliminates this performance bottleneck by automating the cleaning process, using a motorized lid to mechanically wipe the neck wall clean multiple times per day.
By maintaining a pristine skimmer neck, the CL250 ensures your filtration operates at its absolute peak 24/7, resulting in a significantly higher volume of concentrated skimmate. This versatile model is engineered to fit an extensive range of professional Reef Octopus skimmers, including the SRO-5000, XP-5000, Regal 250, and the Hurricone Cat 2 series. Utilizing a high-torque synchronous motor and durable twin silicone blades, the CL250 is an essential tool for any advanced reef keeper looking to maximize nutrient export while reducing manual maintenance.
Key Features
• Automated Efficiency: Motorized lid assembly removes organic waste before it can negatively impact skimmer performance.
• Universal 10-Inch Fitment: Compatible with SRO5000(INT/EXT/SSS), NWB/DNWB250, XP5000(INT/EXT/SSS), XS250, EXT250/300/350, DCS 250, DCSR 250ext, Regal 250(INT/SSS/EXT), and Hurricone Cat 2(INT/EXT).
• Twin Silicone Squeegees: Dual blades provide a thorough, streak-free clean of the internal skimmer neck.

- Remove the existing collection cup lid from your 10-inch neck Reef Octopus skimmer.
- Install the squeegee blade assembly onto the drive shaft of the CL250 lid.
- Place the CL250 lid onto the collection cup, ensuring the blades are centered inside the neck.
- Connect the 24V AC power supply to the motor and plug it into a standard timer or aquarium controller.
- Program the cleaner to run for 15–20 seconds, two to four times per day.
- Every few months, remove the blades and rinse with warm freshwater to remove any accumulated grit.
Pro Tips
Short cycles are best for longevity. You only need to rotate the blades a few times to clear the neck. Setting your timer for 20 seconds every 6 hours is much more effective than running it for long periods.
Be prepared for significantly more skimmate. Once the CL250 is installed, your skimmer will pull waste much more efficiently. Monitor your collection cup closely for the first few days, as it may fill up faster than it did with manual cleaning.
Always use a timer or controller. To maintain the 1,500-hour estimated lifespan of the high-torque motor, do not run the unit 24/7. Automated, short bursts are the industry-standard way to ensure your cleaner lasts for years.
