Designed for ultra-large aquatic installations, the Reef Octopus Q8 Commercial Foam Fractionator (SKU: OCT-Q8) delivers commercial-scale organic removal for system volumes up to 26,500 gallons. Engineered to manage high biological loads in public aquariums, oceanariums, and commercial aquaculture systems, the Q8 continuously strips dissolved organic compounds (DOCs), proteins, and fine suspended particulates before they break down into toxic ammonia and nitrate.
The Q8 features a massive 39.4-inch diameter hybrid acrylic body with a conical transition neck that reduces internal turbulence and lowers head pressure on the recirculation pumps. Mixing inside the ~210-gallon reaction chamber is powered by six external Bubble Blaster HY-10000s pinwheel pumps equipped with wear-resistant silicon nitride ceramic shafts.
Low-Maintenance Commercial Engineering
To eliminate the operational downtime of manual neck scrubbing, the OCT-Q8 comes equipped with an integrated twin-blade motorized neck cleaner that continuously wipes the interior riser neck. This prevents organic sludge accumulation and maintains optimal foam riser performance around the clock.
(Note: This commercial unit requires an 8–10 week production lead time and ships via heavy freight crate due to its overall size and weight).

CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
Installation & Set-Up Guidelines:
Uncrate and inspect the skimmer on a reinforced, level concrete pad capable of supporting the full operational water weight.
Install the six Bubble Blaster HY-10000s pumps onto the lower union connections using the provided silicone seals.
Connect your feed pump lines to the main water inlets to maintain continuous raw water input.
Plumb the heavy-duty PVC discharge gate valve assembly to your system return or sump drain manifold.
Connect the high-capacity collection cup drain line directly to a dedicated waste storage drum or floor drain.
Fill the main chamber with water prior to energizing the six Bubble Blaster pinwheel pumps, then fine-tune the discharge gate valve to set the desired foam level.
Pro Tips:
- Staggered Pump Maintenance. With six independent Bubble Blaster HY-10000s pumps on the Q8, schedule routine rotor cleaning in rotating pairs (e.g., two pumps every month). This allows the skimmer to remain continuously online without interrupting organic removal in high-bioload commercial exhibits.
- Automate the Twin-Blade Wiper. Connect the motorized twin-blade neck cleaner to a digital timer set to run for 1–2 minutes every 4 hours. Keeping the riser neck clean prevents organic oils from collapsing the foam head while maintaining maximum air-water contact.
- Ozone Integration. The Q8 features integrated venturi ports built into the pump air intakes for direct ozone injection. When utilizing ozone to increase water clarity, ensure gas delivery is regulated via an ORP controller to protect marine life.
