Alternate Gyre Mode Modified Cable for IceCap Gyre Interface Module
Unlocking true alternating water motion across a reef aquarium requires specialized signaling when using 3rd-party controllers. The Alternate Gyre Mode Modified Cable (SKU: IC-GYRE-MOD-CABLE) is an official factory-wired adapter cable designed specifically for use with the IceCap Gyre Interface Module. Standard 0-10V control cables send identical voltage signals to both connected gyre pumps, forcing them to ramp up and down simultaneously. This modified cable features an internally crossed pin layout that reverses the response on one pump channel.
When connected to an Apex, Hydros, or 0-10V controller, sending a high-voltage pulse turns Pump A ON while keeping Pump B OFF (or at minimum speed). When the voltage reverses, Pump A turns OFF while Pump B powers UP. This seamless alternating action creates a natural oceanic tide movement across your display, flushing detritus out of live rock crevices without requiring complex programming logic.
Setup Requirement
This modified cable connects between your 3rd-party controller's 0-10V variable speed ports and the IceCap Gyre Interface Module. It requires two Maxspect or IceCap Gyre pumps powered by their respective driver modules.

- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of the owner's or his agent's first knowledge of the defect.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given the first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements, or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary, or consequential damages of any nature, however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.

Installation & Configuration Guidelines:
Power down your 3rd-party controller (Apex / Hydros) variable-speed ports and IceCap Gyre Interface Module.
Plug the primary male end of the IC-GYRE-MOD-CABLE into the 0-10V variable speed output port on your controller base unit or module.
Connect the two output leads of the modified cable into the input ports on the IceCap Gyre Interface Module.
Set your controller programming software to output a ramping or square-wave 0-10V variable profile (e.g., 0% to 100% over a 30-minute ramp cycle).
Energize the system and observe the gyre pumps: as Pump A ramps up to peak speed, Pump B will ramp down to minimum/idle, creating an alternating gyre flow.
Pro Tips:
- Use Square Wave Profiles for Dramatic Flow Swings. For SPS-dominant aquariums, program your controller with a square-wave 0-10V profile that switches abruptly every 15 to 30 minutes. This creates massive back-and-forth water surges that strip boundary layers from coral tissue.
- Label Your Cable Ends. Because the internal pinout is modified specifically for channel inversion, label the pump output leads ("Pump A" and "Pump B / Inverted") before tucking wires into your cabinet cable tracks. This makes future equipment servicing fast and mistake-free.
