The heart of the Regal 150-INT is the VarioS pump, which features a ceramic shaft and bearing for reduced wear and long-term reliability. Unlike traditional AC pumps, the VarioS provides a "soft start" and allows you to adjust flow rates via the included controller or a third-party aquarium computer. The integrated float switch provides an extra layer of security, preventing messy collection cup overflows by cutting power to the skimmer instantly when the waste level rises too high. CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
Assemble the skimmer body and attach the VarioS-2S pump to the internal intake.
Place the skimmer in your sump, ensuring the water level is between 7 and 8 inches.
Connect the pump to the VarioS controller and plug in the power supply.
Mount the float switch in the collection cup lid.
Open the gate valve fully and turn on the pump. Gradually close the valve until the foam line reaches the bottom of the collection cup neck.
Allow 2–4 weeks for the skimmer to "break in" before final tuning.
Pro Tips:
- Optimize Your Output. The Regal 150-INT uses a 40mm Metric output. If you are hard-plumbing your drain, ensure you use a 40mm Metric Standard Coupling or Union to maintain compatibility with the factory gate valve.
- Break-in Period. New skimmers often overflow due to manufacturing residues on the acrylic. To speed up the break-in process, soak the skimmer body in a dilute vinegar solution or run it in a bucket of saltwater for 24 hours before adding it to your main system.
- Controller Calibration. If using a 0-10V third-party controller, remember that speed 1 on the VarioS controller is roughly 2V. Calibrating your Apex or GHL profile to stay within the 2V–10V range will ensure the pump never stalls during operation.
