IceCap 38 Gallon Cube All-In-One Rimless Glass Aquarium
The IceCap 38 Gallon Cube AIO Rimless Glass Aquarium (SKU: IC-AIO38G) is an authentic, high-performance medium aquatic ecosystem distributed by CoralVue to blend elegant minimalist design with complete multi-stage filtration. Standard home aquariums often rely on bulky, hang-on-back power filters or complicated external canister hoses that crowd your viewing angles, create splash noise, and leak raw saltwater over time. The IC-AIO38G bypasses these structural hassles entirely by embedding a comprehensive three-chamber filtration matrix directly behind a sleek black acrylic partition wall. This allows both freshwater aquarists and reef hobbyists to run top-tier support equipment like heaters, chemical media, auto top-offs, or skimmers completely out of sight.
The front and side viewing faces of this hand-crafted nano cube are cut from ultra-clear 8mm low-iron glass panels. Unlike standard glass sheets that contain high levels of iron oxide—which tints your view with a heavy green haze—low-iron glass remains visually invisible, ensuring your fish, corals, and aquascaping rocks are displayed in crisp clarity. Water movement is driven by the included ~296 GPH submersible utility pump, cycling your entire water volume nearly 8 times per hour through a high-efficiency directional flare nozzle. Outfitted with a drop-in 200-micron mechanical mesh filter sock, the IceCap 38G Cube provides a reliable, easily managed foundation for complex community tanks, heavy freshwater planted scapes, or targeted micro reef biomes.
Key Features:
Spacious Tailored Multi-Chambers: Deep rear channels provide ample workspace to seamlessly upgrade to specialized drop-in mechanical rollers, media reactors, or nano skimmers (like the IceCap AIO-120 or AIO-240).
Blackout Internal Partition Mask: High-density black acrylic baffle plate blocks internal light leakage into the back chambers, preventing unwanted algae growth over your pump housing.
Directional Flow Adjustability: Multi-jointed locator flare nozzle lets you pivot your return water path precisely toward the surface or your rockwork to eliminate stagnant dead zones.
Note: This self-contained nano aquarium includes the rimless low-iron glass tank frame, a pre-installed self-leveling bottom pad, the submersible return pump with integrated plumbing fittings, and a 200-micron mesh filter sock. Light fixtures and cabinet stands are sold separately.

Instructions:
- Carefully unpack the IC-AIO38G tank on a completely flat surface, checking that all three rear chambers are clear of cardboard shipping packing.
- Slide the included return pump line over the barb fitting on the pre-installed back plumbing bulkhead wall, seating the pump flat against the bottom floor of Chamber 3.
- Drop the 200-micron mechanical mesh filter sock straight into the circular cutout ring inside Chamber 1 directly under the main overflow surface skim teeth.
- Position the aquarium in its final location on a dedicated, level, aquarium-rated cabinet stand or heavy counter. Warning: Glass aquariums filled with water weigh over 350 lbs and must never be placed on generic home desks or dressers.
- Fill the display section with your prepared sand, rock layouts, and mixed water until the water line overflows back into the rear chambers and settles halfway up the pump room glass wall.
- Create a safety drip loop with the pump’s power cord outside the stand, plug the line into a grounded GFCI wall outlet, and monitor the rear chambers for smooth, bubble-free water transit.
Pro Tips:
- Never Turn On or Cycle Your Return Pump While the Rear Chambers Are Dry. Submersible aquarium utility pumps rely completely on the passing water column to lubricate their internal ceramic shafts and cool their magnetic impellers. If you plug in the return pump while the rear chamber is dry, the internal friction will rapidly overheat the plastic housing, causing permanent motor seize or wire shorting within seconds. Always fill both the main viewing area and the rear filtration zones with water before applying power to the system.
- Rinse the Mechanical Filter Sock at Least Twice a Week under Fresh Water. Because a 38-gallon tank holds a relatively concentrated volume of water compared to large setups, trapped food particles and organic fish waste caught inside your 200-micron mesh filter sock will decay quickly. If left uncleaned, this waste breaks down rapidly, spiking your nitrate and phosphate readings. To prevent nuisance hair algae outbreaks, pull the filter sock out every 3 to 4 days, flip it inside out under a warm kitchen sink tap to flush out the debris, and pop it back into place.
- Use the Middle Rear Filter Chamber for Your Heater and Auto Top-Off Sensors. When organizing your rear support gear, place your glass heater element and automatic top-off (ATO) water level sensors directly inside Chamber 2 (the center chamber). The water level inside Chamber 1 and Chamber 2 remains fixed due to the glass baffle layout, while the water level in Chamber 3 (the pump room) drops continuously due to everyday room evaporation. Placing your heater or sensors in the center chamber protects your heating element from running dry and prevents your ATO from accidentally dumping too much freshwater into the tank.
