- Innovative Dual-Blade Carrier: Houses two blades simultaneously on the scraping side to slice through stubborn coralline and spot algae twice as fast.
- Positive Floating Buoyancy: Upgraded internal chambers ensure the wet side bobbing directly to the water surface if decoupled, protecting your substrate.
- Reversible Blade Geometry: Included scraping inserts are completely reversible, effectively doubling the usable lifespan of your blades.
- Glass and Acrylic Versatility: Ships with both marine-grade 316 stainless steel blades for glass and specialized, non-marring plastic blades for acrylic.
- Patented 180-Degree Flip Action: Seamlessly transitions from a wide fabric polishing pad to the twin-blade scraper side with a quick twist of the outer handle.
- Silicone Safety Buffer Line: Blade spacing limits the chassis frame from rubbing directly against the tank wall, shielding delicate corner silicone seals.
Flipper Cleaner
Flipper develops innovative aquarium products, such as the 2-in-1 magnetic algae scraper, designed to make owning and maintaining your tank more enjoyable.
Flipper Edge Standard 2-in-1 Floating Magnetic Aquarium Cleaner (SKU: FLP-EDGE)
The Flipper Edge Standard 2-in-1 Floating Magnetic Aquarium Cleaner (SKU: FLP-EDGE) is an authentic, professional-grade maintenance instrument distributed by CoralVue to maximize water clarity and cleaning efficiency in home aquariums. While standard magnet cleaners rely on a single blade that can leave streaks or require multiple passes, the Flipper Edge integrates a revolutionary dual-blade alignment on its scraping deck. This advanced engineering doubles the active cleaning surface, allowing you to scrape away dense film and tough coralline algae with half the effort. With a simple 180-degree turn of the external dry handle, the internal cleaning element flips seamlessly inside the tank, changing your tool face instantly while keeping your hands completely dry.
The defining safety advancement of the FLP-EDGE is its built-in Positive Floating Buoyancy Framework. If you pull the external handle away too quickly or drop the magnetic connection, the wet module will not plunge into the sand bed where it can pick up glass-scratching quartz particles. Instead, it rises directly to the surface of the aquarium, remaining upright so you can re-engage the magnetic link without dipping your hand in the water column. Outfitted with specialized 316 stainless steel blades for glass and flat/serrated ABS plastic blades for sensitive acrylic sheets, it handles routine glass cleanup with unmatched structural safety.
Key Features
Cuts Cleaning Time in Half: Twin-blade configuration ensures that any algae missed by the leading edge is immediately captured by the trailing blade.
Saves Corner Silicone Tracks: Specialized blade offsets keep the hard plastic housing away from corner glass joints, preventing structural tears.
Slick Low-Profile Internal Footprint: Slim wet-side design easily navigates tight spaces between your display wall and mature live rock or coral formations.
(Note: This retail package includes (1) Flipper Edge Standard Magnet Cleaner assembly, (2) Reversible Stainless Steel Blades, and (2) Reversible Acrylic-Safe Plastic Blades. Replacement blade multi-packs are sold under separate maintenance categories).

- Unbox your Flipper Edge Standard. Inspect the cleaning faces to ensure they are clean, and select the correct blade inserts: Stainless Steel for glass tanks only or ABS Plastic for acrylic tanks only.
- Push your chosen blade inserts firmly into the dual slots on the scraper end of the wet module until they lock securely into position.
- Lower the wet side module into the aquarium water near an upper corner. Bring the dry handle up to the exterior glass surface to engage the rare earth magnets. Warning: These neodymium magnets are powerful. Keep your fingers clear of the glass contact path to prevent sudden pinching.
- Mastering the Flip: To switch cleaning faces, slide the Flipper smoothly to an area of the tank with low water current, roughly 3 inches below the water line. Pull the dry handle straight back away from the glass about 2 inches to break the magnetic lock, rotate the handle 180 degrees in your hand, and snap it back against the glass. The internal wet module will mimic the rotation and flip over automatically.
- When operating near your substrate sand line, keep the scraper blades pointing downward. The integrated blade gap keeps the main magnet body raised away from the sand to avoid picking up debris, but always visual check the pad to ensure no loose gravel particles have caught.
- To maintain a crisp edge, replace your blade inserts every 3 to 6 months depending on your algae load, or pull the blades out and reverse them to use the fresh opposite edge.
Pro Tips:
- Flip the Cleaner Near the Water Surface for the Easiest Flip Rotation. While the Flipper Edge Standard can be flipped anywhere in open water, performing your handle rotation near the top of your tank makes the process effortless. Shifting the unit up toward the surface keeps it away from dense rockwork formations or wide corals that could block the wet module's 180-degree swing, allowing the magnet to rotate cleanly and click right back into position every single time.
- Never Use the Stainless Steel Blade Face on Acrylic Aquariums. The marine-grade 316 stainless steel blades included with your FLP-EDGE are incredibly efficient at slicing through stubborn coralline algae, but they should only be used on glass tanks. Acrylic panels are much softer than glass, and a metal blade will cause instant, deep scratches across the plastic. Always verify that you have securely clicked the black ABS plastic blade inserts into place before cleaning an acrylic aquarium.
- Utilize the Serrated Edge of the Plastic Blade for Stubborn Algae on Acrylic. If you are cleaning an acrylic tank, the included plastic blades offer a unique feature: one side is completely flat for daily film wiping, while the opposite side features a serrated, saw-tooth edge. If you run into tough green spot algae or early coralline crust that the flat edge can't handle, pop the plastic blade out and flip it to the serrated side. The teeth concentrate the magnetic pressure, allowing you to safely break up hard algae without scratching the acrylic.
