The Reef Octopus Water Blaster HY-7000 is an ultra-efficient, heavy-duty circulation and return pump designed to move large volumes of water quietly and reliably. Based on the proven motor technology of Reef Octopus skimmer pumps, the Water Blaster series is specifically engineered to deliver high flow with exceptional energy savings and minimal heat transfer into your aquarium.

At the heart of the Water Blaster HY-7000 is an integrated digital control circuit board that manages directional startup, regulates RPM speeds, and provides automatic safety shut-off if an obstruction or dry-run condition is detected. Unlike standard ceramic shafts that attract heavy calcium buildup, the HY-7000 utilizes a Silicon Nitride shaft and bearing system. This ultra-durable material resists calcification and wear, drastically reducing maintenance and ensuring smooth, uninterrupted flow. Designed for maximum plumbing flexibility, the HY-7000 can be operated submersed inside a sump or externally plumbed dry.

Note: THIS IS NOT A PRESSURE RATED PUMP.This pump is not ideal for second floor applications or to feed Beckett or downdraft skimmers where consistent pressure is necessary.

WARRANTY

CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:

  • Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
  • Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
  • One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets

Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.

This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:

  • To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
  • To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
  • To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
  • That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
  • That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
  • Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.

Submersed Installation:

  1. Attach the included vibration-isolation suction feet to the baseplate of the pump.

  2. Thread the intake strainer screen onto the 1-1/4" inlet port to protect the impeller from coarse debris or macroalgae.

  3. Place the pump flat in a clean sump return chamber, ensuring water level completely covers the volute.

  4. Connect flexible vinyl tubing or hard-plumb rigid PVC out of the 1" discharge union.

  5. Plug the power cord into a GFC-protected wall outlet.

External (Inline) Installation:

  1. Remove the intake strainer screen and connect a dedicated suction line from your sump's bulkheads directly to the 1-1/4" inlet.

  2. Ensure the intake line is flood-fed. Because the HY-7000W is not self-priming, the water level in your sump must rest above the level of the pump's inlet port.

  3. Apply PTFE thread tape to male fittings and secure all union connections.

  4. Check for watertight integrity before powering on the unit.

Note: This is Not a High-Pressure Rated Pump.

CRITICAL SYSTEM DESIGN WARNING: The Water Blaster 7000 is engineered as a high-volume circulation and return pump. It is not designed for extreme pressure applications, such as pumping water up two stories or driving pressure-hungry downdraft or Beckett-style protein skimmers.

Always Install True Unions Inline. When hard-plumbing the HY-7000W externally, install true union ball valves on both the intake and discharge pipes immediately adjacent to the pump. This allows you to isolate the pump and remove it for routine servicing without draining your sump or display tank.

Perform Annual Silicon Nitride Inspections. While silicon nitride actively repels mineral deposits, micro-biotoxins and organic film can still accumulate inside the impeller chamber over time. Disassemble the front volute once or twice a year and gently wipe down the rotor and shaft with a soft sponge soaked in diluted citric acid to keep the pump running quietly at peak efficiency.
