Flipper Nano Float 2-in-1 Magnetic Aquarium Algae Cleaner (SKU: FLP-NANO-FLT)

The Flipper Nano Float Magnetic Aquarium Algae Cleaner (SKU: FLP-NANO-FLT) is an authentic, premium-grade maintenance instrument distributed by CoralVue to preserve crystal-clear visibility across desktop nano aquariums and small marine reef displays up to 25 gallons. Traditional magnetic cleaners often require you to choose between a soft pad that struggles against stubborn spot algae or a blade assembly that is tedious for daily film wiping. The Flipper Nano solves this limitation by integrating both cleaning faces into a single, dual-sided wet module. With a simple 180-degree turn of the external dry handle, the internal cleaning element flips seamlessly inside the tank, changing your tool face instantly while keeping your hands completely dry.

The defining upgrade of the Nano Float series centers on its built-in Positive Floating Buoyancy Framework. In legacy magnetic designs, dropping the connection meant the heavy internal magnet plummeted straight down into the sand bed, trapping jagged quartz grains against the glass and risking severe scratches. The Nano Float contains internal air pockets that cause it to bob straight up to the water surface the moment it detaches. This floating module utilizes orienting buoyancy to always keep its magnet face turned toward the aquarium wall, allowing you to re-engage the dry handle right from the surface. Capable of slicing through tough coralline algae while skimming safely over substrate lines, it serves as an essential tool for rimless nano tank enthusiasts.

Key Features

  • Protects Sensitive Nano Panels: The safety-spaced blade edge raises the magnet core away from the wall, preventing trapped sand from generating deep glass cuts.

  • Ultra-Slim Internal Profile: Easily navigates tight clearance paths between your live rock formations and your display glass without tipping over small corals.

  • Fast Hand-Dry Tank Cleanup: Swap from full-surface wiping to hard crust scraping in seconds without dipping your arm into your small ecosystem.

  • (Note: This retail package includes (1) Flipper Nano Float External Handle, (1) Floating Internal Wet Module, and (1) Stainless Steel Glass Blade. Acrylic-safe ABS plastic replacement blades are sold under separate maintenance categories).

  1. Unbox your Flipper Nano Float. Inspect the cleaning pad surface to ensure it is free of transit debris. Warning: The included stainless steel blade is highly optimized for glass tanks only. If cleaning an acrylic aquarium, swap it out for a non-marring ABS plastic blade before use.
  2. Slide your scraping blade firmly into the mounting pins on the scraper end of the wet module until it snaps into place.
  3. Drop the wet module into the aquarium water near an upper corner. Bring the dry handle up to the exterior glass surface to engage the rare earth magnets. Warning: These neodymium magnets are powerful for their size. Avoid placing fingers directly between the two halves to prevent sudden pinching.
  4. Mastering the Flip: To switch cleaning faces, slide the Flipper smoothly to an area of the tank with low water current, roughly 3 inches below the water line. Pull the dry handle straight back away from the glass about 2 inches to break the magnetic lock, rotate the handle 180 degrees in your hand, and snap it back against the glass. The internal wet module will mimic the rotation and flip over automatically.
  5. When cleaning near your substrate sand line, keep the scraper blade pointing downward. The integrated 3mm safety gap prevents sand from being trapped beneath the magnet core, but always check visually to ensure no loose gravel particles have caught on the pad.
  6. To preserve the sharp edge of your blades, replace your stainless steel or ABS plastic inserts every 3 to 6 months depending on your algae load.

Pro Tips:

  • Flip the Cleaner Near the Water Surface for the Easiest Flip Rotation. While the Flipper Nano Float can be flipped anywhere in open water, performing your handle rotation near the top of your tank makes the process effortless. Shifting the unit up toward the surface keeps it away from dense rockwork formations or wide corals that could block the wet module's 180-degree swing, allowing the magnet to rotate cleanly and click right back into position every single time.
  • Never Use the Stainless Steel Blade Face on Acrylic Aquariums. The marine-grade stainless steel blade included with your FLP-NANO-FLT is incredibly efficient at slicing through stubborn coralline algae, but it should only be used on glass tanks. Acrylic panels are much softer than glass, and a metal blade will cause instant, deep scratches across the plastic. Always verify that you have securely clicked an ABS plastic blade insert into place before cleaning an acrylic aquarium.
  • Store the Magnet Assembly in an Upper Corner of Your Tank After Use. Because the Flipper Nano Float is constructed with high-grade, corrosion-resistant housings and a rust-resistant stainless steel blade, it is completely safe to leave inside your aquarium 24/7. Instead of removing the wet half and breaking the connection every day, simply slide the Flipper up to a top back corner of your tank when you're done. This keeps the tool tucked neatly out of sight while ensuring it is ready for quick touch-ups without ever getting your hands wet.
