IceCap Dual Output Aquarium Heater Controller (IC-ACH1000W)
The IceCap Aquarium Heater Controller (SKU: IC-ACH1000W) is an authentic, dedicated digital thermostat module distributed by CoralVue to eliminate the single most common hardware failure point in modern aquatic systems: stuck heater thermostats. Standard standalone glass or titanium heaters utilize basic internal bi-metal or low-cost internal chips to regulate heat. Over time, continuous moisture exposure and structural wear can cause these internal relays to fuse together, trapping the heater in a permanent "on" position that can cook sensitive coral reef colonies or valuable fish within a few hours. The IC-ACH1000W establishes a robust external safety net, acting as a high-fidelity gatekeeper that forces power to completely shut down the moment your water achieves its designated target limit.
Engineered with dual three-prong grounded outlets extending from its lower chassis, this controller allows you to spread your overall heating workload across two smaller elements (such as two IceCap Titanium elements) rather than relying on one massive, single failure-prone heater unit. Its bright digital panel continuously reads out current metrics down to an incredibly precise 0.1-degree resolution. For absolute environmental protection, the controller contains an active over-temperature audible alarm buzzer. If a heater element malfunctions or room conditions cause the temperature parameters to climb dangerously high, the device rings out a local notification alert so you can remedy the issue before livestock experiences fatal stress.
Key Features
Prevents Disastrous Tank Crashing: Acts as an un-compromised secondary fail-safe to cut external utility line power long before internal heater thermostats can overheat your display.
Streamlines Cabinet Electronics: Out-of-the-box system functions perfectly as a standalone hardwired block—no complicated mobile phone app configuration or Wi-Fi networks required.
Flexible Sensor Cable Reach: Equipped with a heavy-duty, 5-foot waterproof temperature sensor probe to allow deep submersion inside high-flow sump chambers or overflow compartments.
(Note: This electrical safety component contains only the primary electronic controller base housing and its integrated temperature probe line. Standalone titanium heater elements and mounting blocks are sold under separate product categories).

- Secure the IceCap controller mounting cradle to your dry cabinet wall using wood screws. Clip the IC-ACH1000W display body firmly inside the track framework.
- Route the 5-foot temperature sensor line directly into your aquarium system. Place the probe head firmly inside a high-flow chamber of your sump or adjacent to your overflow partition. Warning: Ensure the probe stays completely submerged and cannot accidentally fall out into dry cabinet spaces.
- Plug your chosen heating elements (sold separately) directly into the dual grounded outlet sockets extending from the bottom tail of the controller cord.
- Insert the main 3-prong utility power cord of the IceCap controller straight into a certified, surge-protected GFCI wall outlet. The screen will illuminate and show a Blue light.
- Press the front panel button once to unlock your configuration options. Use the <+> and <-> keys to configure your desired target temperature limit, then tap once more to save your baseline.
- Press the <C/F> button to change your view parameters between Celsius and Fahrenheit tracking based on your regional tracking habits.
Pro Tips:
- Position Your Temperature Probe and Heating Elements Inside the Same Water Compartment. When setting up any external thermostat controller, never isolate your temperature sensor probe inside a separate chamber away from the physical heating elements. If you place the heaters inside the main display tank but hang the probe deep inside a low-flow refugium sump partition, the elements will keep firing aggressively because the probe isn't seeing the heat rise. Always keep the sensor downstream or in the immediate high-flow vicinity of the elements to ensure tight, circular feedback loop tracking.
- Set Your Individual Heater's Dial 2 Degrees Higher Than the IceCap Controller. If you are using heater elements that possess their own onboard temperature adjustment dials along with the IceCap module, do not set both controllers to the exact same number. If both are set to 78°F, the heater's internal dial might click off at 77.8°F due to minor component variance, preventing the IceCap controller from ever achieving its cycle target. Set your heater’s internal dialing point to 80°F, and let the elite electronic relays inside the IceCap module manage the master 78°F cut-off target.
- Perform a Cross-Check and Calibration Verification Every 90 Days. While the digital sensor inside the IC-ACH1000W probe is exceptionally reliable, microscopic bacterial slime layers and hard calcium scales will slowly cake the outer probe tip over months of submersion. This can delay thermal conductivity, causing the display reading to drift. Every three months, verify the screen temperature against a certified medical or laboratory liquid glass thermometer. If a minor variance exists, hold down the <+> and <-> buttons for 3 seconds to access the software configuration menu and input a manual calibration adjustment value.</C/F>
