Flipper Standard ABS Replacement Scraper Blades — 3 Pack (SKU: RFC14414)
The Flipper Standard ABS Replacement Scraper Blades (SKU: RFC14414 / UPC: 713757189101) are authentic, non-scratch mechanical cleaning inserts distributed by CoralVue to preserve pristine optical clarity in acrylic display aquariums. Acrylic display tanks are highly favored for their incredible structural strength and lack of green-tint distortion, but they are significantly softer than standard glass. Using an aggressive metal razor option will instantly gouge or deeply scratch the plastic, permanently ruining your view. The Flipper Standard ABS plastic blades solve this vulnerability by introducing a rigid, straight-edge polymer formulation that applies optimal mechanical pressure to strip away algae without cutting into the underlying acrylic window matrix.
The standout functional benefit of the RFC14414 design centers on its Low-Profile, High-Velocity Scrubbing Action. Measuring 2.5" x 0.6" x 0.2", each blade snaps perfectly flat against the scraping deck of your standard Flipper or Flipper Standard Float cleaner. This minimal footprint ensures the blade won't wobble or flex under the magnetic downforce required to pass through 1/4" to 1/2" thick panels. From light green dust diatoms to early calcified spot colonies, these blades act as a safe mechanical squeegee. Packed in a bulk 3-count container, this kit makes routine acrylic tank maintenance quick and completely stress-free.

Chassis Platform Compatibility: Form-Fitted for Flipper Standard and Flipper Standard Float Cleaners
- Disconnect your Flipper Standard internal wet module from the display wall and pull it out of the water column to change your blades safely on a dry surface.
- Slide or pop your old, worn plastic blade forward to release it from the tracking pins on the scraper deck of the cleaner and discard it responsibly.
- Take a fresh plastic replacement blade out of your RFC14414 3-pack box.
- Align the guide slots on the underside of the new blade with the matching pins on the Flipper Standard chassis head. Note: The structural design is directional and will only snap securely into place in one orientation.
- Push the blade back firmly until you hear a crisp click, indicating it is locked and seated evenly across the front profile of the scraper deck.
- Lower the loaded wet module back into your aquarium water, re-engage the external magnetic handle, and continue your routine aquarium maintenance.
Pro Tips:
- Swap Your Plastic Blades Every 2 to 5 Months to Maintain a Sharp Edge. Unlike stainless steel blades that stay sharp for a long time but carry a high scratch risk on plastic, ABS plastic blades are softer by design to protect your acrylic. Because of this, scraping across hard aquarium walls will slowly round off and dull the fine edge over time. If you notice your Flipper starting to leave thin streaks behind or requiring multiple passes over basic film algae, it's time for a fresh edge. Plan to pop in a new blade from your 3-pack every 2 to 5 months to keep it performing like new.
- Never, Under Any Circumstances, Let Hard Sand Catch on the Scraper Edge. ABS plastic blades are entirely safe for acrylic tanks, but trapped substrate sand grains are not. When working near your substrate sand line, always move slowly and check the scraper edge visually. If a piece of hard quartz sand gets caught between the plastic blade and your soft acrylic wall, the heavy downforce of the rare earth magnets will drag it along and leave deep scratches. Storing your Flipper in an upper corner of the tank when not in use helps prevent substrate debris from settling onto the cleaning pads.
- Lightly Sharpen a Dull Plastic Blade with Fine-Grit Sandpaper for Emergency Extra Use. If you find yourself running low on your replacement stock right when a fresh patch of green spot algae breaks out, you can give a worn plastic blade a temporary second life. Lay a sheet of fine 400-grit or 600-grit sandpaper flat on a sturdy countertop. Hold the dull ABS blade at its factory angle and draw it across the paper in a single direction a few times. This sharpens the plastic edge, giving you enough cleaning power to hold you over until your next restock box arrives.
