Reef Octopus Water Blaster 2000 Replacement Impeller (SKU: ROP-WB2000-IMP)
Over years of continuous operation under heavy saltwater loads, even the finest aquarium pumps experience normal wear on moving parts. The Reef Octopus Water Blaster 2000 Replacement Impeller (SKU: ROP-WB2000-IMP) is the official OEM factory replacement rotor assembly designed to breathe new life into a lagging or noisy HY-2000W pump. Whether your original impeller has suffered physical damage to its plastic vanes, experienced ceramic shaft scoring from debris, or lost magnetic torque, replacing the entire rotor assembly instantly restores your system's primary circulation flow.
Engineered with high-torque rare-earth neodymium magnets, the ROP-WB2000-IMP pairs seamlessly with the pump's digital control circuit board to ensure smooth, forward-spinning startup every time power is engaged.
Advanced Silicon Nitride Engineering
A primary cause of aquarium pump noise and failure is calcium precipitation hardening around the spinning shaft. This replacement impeller features an advanced Silicon Nitride shaft and bearing surface. Silicon nitride provides an ultra-smooth, non-porous finish that actively resists mineral adhesion, drastically cutting down maintenance frequency and ensuring long-term operational silence.
(Note: This retail SKU contains (1) complete ROP-WB2000-IMP replacement impeller and shaft assembly. Pump volute covers, O-rings, and motor blocks are sold under separate product categories).

How to Replace Your Pump Impeller:
Completely disconnect power to the pump and isolate it from your aquarium plumbing.
Remove the pump from your sump and place it on a clean, flat work surface.
Unscrew the four titanium perimeter screws on the front volute housing and carefully remove the volute cover.
Pull the old, worn impeller assembly straight out of the magnetic motor well.
Thoroughly clean the interior motor chamber using a soft bottle brush and a diluted citric acid or vinegar solution to remove any trapped debris, slime, or calcium deposits.
Gently slide the new ROP-WB2000-IMP impeller assembly straight into the motor housing until the magnetic pull seats it fully into place.
Reinstall the volute cover over the rubber O-ring seal, secure the four titanium screws in a cross pattern, and return the pump to service.
Pro Tips:
Never Run the Pump Dry.
CRITICAL PUMP MAINTENANCE WARNING: The silicon nitride shaft relies on continuous water flow for internal cooling and lubrication. Running a Water Blaster pump dry—even for a few minutes—will rapidly overheat the ceramic housing and permanently warp the plastic impeller assembly.
Inspect the Rubber End-Caps. When swapping in a new impeller, check the small rubber dampening bushings located at the front and rear tips of the ceramic shaft. If they appear flattened, torn, or calcified, replace them to maintain a silent, vibration-free spin.
Keep a Spare Rotor on Hand for Critical Systems. Your return pump is the beating heart of your aquarium filtration. Keeping a backup ROP-WB2000-IMP impeller in your maintenance drawer ensures you can instantly resolve unexpected mechanical wear and maintain uninterrupted water circulation.
