    • Direct OEM RO/DI Integration: Factory-original replacement 90-degree male elbow fitting engineered specifically for IceCap systems and high-flow filtration components.
    • Transitions 3/8" NPT to 1/4" Tubing: Connects larger 3/8-inch female NPT threaded ports directly to standard 1/4-inch OD polyethylene tubing without intermediate reducer bushings.
    • Clean 90-Degree Tube Clearance: Directs tubing at a right angle to eliminate sharp bends, kinks, and strain on plumbing connections in tight under-sink or cabinet installations.
    • Tool-Free Quick-Connect Port: Integrated collet with stainless steel gripping teeth locks 1/4-inch OD tubing firmly in place for an instant, airtight, and watertight seal.
    • High-Pressure Food-Grade Acetal: Molded from durable, chemically inert polyoxymethylene (POM) that safely withstands continuous line pressures and surges up to 125 PSI.

IceCap Reverse Osmosis 3/8-Inch Male Elbow Fitting

Configuring a clean, high-performance water purification setup often requires bridging components of different thread standards without introducing bulky, leak-prone adapter stacks. The IceCap Reverse Osmosis 3/8in Male Elbow x 1/4in Tube (SKU: IP-RI-Q4046 / IC-RI-Q4046) is the official OEM 90-degree transition fitting engineered specifically for IceCap Reverse Osmosis and RO/DI Systems and universal aquatic water treatment equipment.

While standard residential RO/DI filter housings generally feature 1/4-inch NPT ports, specialized high-flow canister heads, commercial-grade booster pump blocks, and feed water supply valves often incorporate larger 3/8-inch female NPT ports. Stacking a separate threaded reducing bushing with a standard tube elbow creates multiple threaded joints, increasing the risk of chronic drips under continuous water pressure. The IP-RI-Q4046 solves this challenge by integrating a 3/8-inch male NPT threaded connection directly into a single 90-degree 1/4-inch push-fit quick-connect port. Molded from food-grade acetal copolymer with an internal elastomeric O-ring, it delivers a direct, low-profile connection that handles operating pressures up to 125 PSI without weeping, stress cracking, or chemical degradation from chlorinated tap water.

    Ideal Replacement & Upgrade Scenarios

If an existing 3/8" adapter fitting has cracked from overtightening, if the quick-connect collet teeth no longer retain 1/4-inch tubing under high booster pump pressure, or if you are plumbing a high-flow booster pump or feed supply valve that uses 3/8-inch female NPT ports directly into 1/4-inch system tubing, installing an authentic IP-RI-Q4046 provides a secure, streamlined connection.

    • (Note: Package includes (1) IceCap 3/8-inch Male NPT to 1/4-inch OD Tube 90-Degree Elbow Fitting).

    What’s Included:

    • (1) IceCap 1/4" Tube x 3/8" Pipe Male Elbow Fitting (IP-RI-Q4046 / IC-RI-Q4046)

    Technical Specs:

    • SKU / Factory Part Identifier: IP-RI-Q4046 (IC-RI-Q4046)

    • Thread Connection: 3/8" Male NPT (National Pipe Taper)

    • Tubing Connection: 1/4" OD Push-to-Connect / Quick-Connect

    • Elbow Angle: 90 Degrees

    • Body Material: Food-Grade Polyoxymethylene (POM / Acetal Copolymer)

    • Sealing Ring: High-Grade Nitrile (NBR) / EPDM O-Ring

    • Maximum Working Pressure: 125 PSI at 70°F (21°C) / 60 PSI at 120°F (49°C)

    • Operating Temperature Range: 33°F – 120°F (1°C – 49°C)

    • Primary Compatibility: High-flow filter canister heads, commercial booster pump bodies, water supply feed adapters with 3/8" female NPT ports, and standard 1/4" OD polyethylene tubing

    Installation & Replacement Guidelines:

    1. Turn off the cold-water feed supply to your RO/DI unit and relieve line pressure by opening the product line.

    2. If replacing a damaged fitting, push the quick-connect collet collar against the fitting body to release and slide out the 1/4-inch tubing, then unscrew the old fitting counter-clockwise.

    3. Clean the internal 3/8" female NPT threads to remove any debris or fragmented thread tape.

    4. Wrap the male threads of the new IP-RI-Q4046 clockwise with 3 to 4 layers of high-density PTFE Teflon thread tape.

    5. Hand-thread the fitting into the 3/8" female NPT port until snug.

    6. Using an open-end wrench on the molded hex flats, tighten an additional 1 to 1.5 turns until the quick-connect port points in the desired routing direction.

    7. Inspect the cut end of your 1/4-inch tubing to ensure a flat, square edge, then push the tubing firmly into the collet until it seats fully past the internal O-ring.

    8. Reopen the cold-water feed supply slowly and verify that neither the threaded joint nor the tubing connection weeps under full line pressure.

    Pro Tips:

    • Avoid Thread Reducer Bushings Whenever Possible. Using a direct reducing elbow like the IP-RI-Q4046 is vastly superior to using a 3/8" to 1/4" brass or plastic hex bushing paired with a 1/4" elbow. Every threaded junction is an additional potential failure point under continuous water pressure. A single molded transition fitting minimizes leak paths and saves critical clearance space in compact cabinets.
    • Apply Additional Teflon Tape for 3/8" NPT Threads. Because 3/8-inch NPT threads have a larger root diameter and deeper thread profile than 1/8-inch or 1/4-inch fittings, use 3 to 4 full wraps of high-density PTFE Teflon tape (rather than 2) to ensure a complete, watertight thread seal without over-torquing the fitting.
