    • Direct OEM RO/DI Fit: Factory-original replacement 90-degree male elbow fitting engineered specifically for IceCap 4-Stage, Smart RO/DI, and auxiliary filtration platforms.
    • Clean 90-Degree Tube Routing: Transitions 1/4-inch female NPT ports to 1/4-inch push-connect tubing at a right angle, preventing sharp line bends and kinking in tight cabinet spaces.
    • Tool-Free Quick-Connect Port: Integrated collet firmly grips standard 1/4-inch OD polyethylene tubing with stainless steel teeth for an airtight, watertight seal.
    • Precision 1/4" Male NPT Threads: Tapered national pipe threads thread smoothly into standard 10-inch filter canister heads (IC-RI-FH01), booster pump blocks, and RO brackets.
    • High-Pressure Food-Grade Acetal: Molded from durable, chemically inert polyoxymethylene (POM) that withstands household line pressure surges up to 125 PSI.

IceCap Reverse Osmosis 1/4-Inch Male Elbow Fitting

Clean plumbing layout is critical to maintaining optimal water flow and avoiding stress fractures across an aquarium reverse osmosis system. The IceCap Reverse Osmosis Male Elbow, Tube 1/4in x Pipe 1/4in (SKU: IC-RI-Q4044 / IP-RI-Q4044) is the official OEM 90-degree adapter fitting engineered specifically for IceCap Reverse Osmosis and RO/DI Systems and standard 1/4-inch water purification equipment.

In multi-stage RO/DI systems, water must travel between 10-inch sediment and carbon filter housings, booster pumps, pressure switches, and membrane housings. Connecting these components with straight fittings in confined spaces often forces semi-rigid polyethylene tubing into sharp, unnatural bends, creating crimped lines that choke flow or lever against fittings to cause chronic weeping. The IC-RI-Q4044 solves this by mating a 1/4-inch male NPT threaded connection directly to a 90-degree 1/4-inch push-fit quick-connect port. Made from food-grade acetal copolymer with an internal high-grade elastomeric O-ring, it safely handles continuous line pressures up to 125 PSI without dripping, cracking, or degrading from dissolved chlorine.

    Ideal Replacement & Upgrade Scenarios

If an existing elbow fitting has developed hairline cracks around its threaded shank from overtightening, if the quick-connect collet has lost its gripping teeth, or if you are configuring new filter stages and need clean, low-profile 90-degree tubing runs, installing the authentic IC-RI-Q4044 provides a reliable, pressure-tested connection.

    • (Note: Package includes (1) IceCap 1/4-inch Male NPT to 1/4-inch OD Tube 90-Degree Elbow Fitting).

    Installation & Replacement Guidelines:

    1. Shut off the cold-water feed supply to your RO/DI unit and relieve standing pressure by opening the product line.

    2. If replacing a damaged fitting, push the collet ring firmly toward the fitting body and withdraw the 1/4-inch tubing, then unscrew the old fitting counter-clockwise.

    3. Clean the female 1/4" NPT threads of the canister cap or pump body to remove any residual tape or debris.

    4. Wrap the male threads of the new IC-RI-Q4044 clockwise with 2 to 3 layers of high-density PTFE Teflon thread tape.

    5. Hand-thread the fitting into the 1/4" female NPT port until snug.

    6. Using an open-end wrench on the molded hex flats, tighten an additional 1 to 1.5 turns until the quick-connect port points in the desired routing direction.

    7. Inspect the end of your 1/4-inch tubing for clean, square cuts, then push it firmly into the quick-connect collet until it seats fully past the internal O-ring.

    8. Reopen the cold-water feed supply slowly and inspect the threaded joint and tubing collet for leaks.

    Pro Tips:

    • Always Use Teflon Tape, Never Liquid Pipe Sealant. Always seal the male NPT threads with standard PTFE Teflon tape rather than liquid pipe joint compounds or paste. Liquid pipe dopes can contain petroleum-based solvents that cause environmental stress cracking in polymer filter caps and fittings, leading to brittle thread failures under water pressure.
    • Align Direction on the Final Turn without Backing Off. Because NPT threads are tapered, reversing the fitting counter-clockwise to adjust its angle can compromise the thread seal and cause slow weeping. Plan your alignment so the fitting reaches its final desired direction on the final forward tightening turn. If you overshoot the angle, back the fitting out completely, remove the old tape, re-wrap fresh Teflon tape, and thread it in again.
